Project Description:
Developing Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement II (D-RASATI II) is a project that aims at enhancing student achievement in Lebanese public schools by training English teachers, developing extracurricular activities, providing schools with ICT equipment and training, developing school leadership and building the capacity and tools necessary to support school improvement planning. D-RASATI II is a 2-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Position Description:
As part of the D-RASATI II project, AMIDEAST is responsible for working closely with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to develop a national strategy for extracurricular activities (ECA) and build the capacity of intermediate and secondary public schools to organize extracurricular learning opportunities for students, based on the strategy. AMIDEAST is looking to hire an expert trainer to develop the content and facilitate workshops for school representatives.
Specific Job Description:
AMIDEAST is seeking a consultant with experience in extracurricular activities to work closely with the ECA component manager to perform the following:
Develop content and materials for workshops that engage public school participants in hands-on learning experiences to develop the relevant skills in areas including:
Identifying student learning and development needs and interests
Developing comprehensive school plans for ECA
Organizing and managing the implementation of ECA
Motivating the school community to support the school with ECA
Building partnerships with the wider community to support ECA at the school
Facilitate workshops for school participants across all regions in Lebanon. The workshops are to be participatory and active in nature and based on the reality of participants’ experiences and on their specific needs.
Desired Qualifications:
At least a BA degree in Education, Public Administration, Sociology, Psychology or other relevant field with at least 15 years of relevant experience; or an MA in Education, Education Administration and Leadership, Public Administration, Sociology, Psychology or other relevant field with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a PhD in Education, Sociology, or Psychology or other relevant field.
Experience in training and facilitating hands-on workshops. Experience in utilizing various approaches to training.
Experience in organizing and implementing extracurricular activities for intermediate and secondary school students.
Experience in working with Lebanese public schools and knowledge of the public education system.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Fluency in Arabic and English is required; fluency in French is preferred.
Excellent computer literacy.
Lebanese citizenship.
Available to begin consultancy work immediately.
