Gender Based Violence (Gbv) Officer - South

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate that has the skills to engage in our organization as a Gender Based Violence Officer. Who are we? DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects. Duties Supervision of GBV staff (caseworkers and protection assistants); Support GBV staff through the provision of technical support and guidance. Ensure that staff implement and respect best-practice and international standards in GBV prevention and response; Understand and follow up on activities and assess progress of implementation, provide solutions and report issues when needed; Develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers; Oversee case management (including follow up on referrals and action plans) and support services provided to GBV survivors (awareness sessions, emotional support sessions, vocational training, mid-way house);     About you To be successful in this role you must have Bachelor in Social work, 2 to 3 years of experience in counselling survivors of gender-based violence or working on gender inequality and violence against women and girls. Being capable to work with the entire Microsoft Office package is mandatory, in addition to being fluent in Arabic with the ability to communicate and write clearly in English is strongly preferred.   Ideally you will also have worked in related field, NGO experience is a plus.   We offer An interesting job in one of the best NGO’s in the world. DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until end of June 2014, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from April and be willing and able to work in Tyre. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for nationals.
