Senior Case Worker - Zahle

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.   In the frame of its humanitarian response towards the Syrian refugee crisis, DRC is implementing a programme to prevent and respond to child abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence. Activities are implemented through a community-based approach in order to empower refugee and host communities to prevent and respond to child protection cases. In this view, DRC will provide response services through individual psychosocial support (case management) and group support (emotional support group, awareness sessions, skills-building/ recreational activities through child friendly spaces. In addition, DRC works with the communities to build their capacities around prevention and response to child protection cases through committees of youth established at local level. DRC currently operates in five locations in Lebanon, namely North and Central/West Bekaa, Akkar, Tripoli and South. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of CP Caseworker, to support this programming.   Overall Responsibility   The CP Senior Caseworker will be responsible for providing direct supervision for psychosocial support and case management to vulnerable boys and girls who needs psychosocial support and other services.   Responsibilities:   Staff supervision To supervise CP caseworkers;   To support CP caseworkers through the provision of technical support and guidance. To ensure that staff implement and respect best-practice and international standards in CP response; To provide age-appropriate and specialized support to CP caseworkers on case management and psychosocial support; To supervise the filing and storage of data collected by the CP caseworkers ensuring the confidentiality and the minimum standard in data storage; Review all CP cases followed by the CP caseworkers through the use of the supervision tool and develop systems for regular supervision of case management; To organize case management meetings with service providers when needed; To maintain positive work relationship within the team, and promote team-building efforts;   Grant implementation and reporting To prepare and submit weekly, monthly and 3-month work plans in a timely manner upon officer’s validation; To support the CP officer in the submission of internal and donors reports as per schedule; To support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on problems in the implementation of the program;   Coordination and representation To develop and maintain effective working relationship with relevant stakeholders including partner agencies, community leaders and service providers; To contribute to the maintenance of an up-to-date service mapping of the service providers operating in the area and ensure that caseworkers are informed about the available services; To receive referrals from different agencies, do action plan and appropriate response to each case; To provide feedback of actions taken to DRC managers and other agencies when necessary; To liaise with relevant stakeholders and advocacy to address gaps in CP response services and referral protocols; To work closely with the GBV team when GBV cases involve child survivors;   Technical support To oversee case management (including follow up on referrals and action plans) and support services provided to CP survivors (awareness sessions, emotional support sessions); To develop and support adherence to CP case management minimum standards; To assess gaps in service provision and request capacity-building support from CP national coordinator;     Others Any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the CP officer or by the Protection manager.   Experience required: Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field;   3 to 4 years of experience in counselling mainly with children; Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times; Ability to provide technical support, trainings and supervision of CP case workers; Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility. Flexibility in working overtime when needed; Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel); Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well. Fluency in Arabic required, ability to community and write clearly in English strongly preferred.
