Adolescent Friendly Space Supervisor

BACKGROUND and JUSTIFICATION:  KAFA (enough) Violence & Exploitation is a Lebanese non-profit, non-political, non-confessional civil society organization, established on the 8th of March 2005 by a group of activists and professionals who have long years of work experience in women issues, specifically in gender-based violence. The organization seeks to mitigate the causes and results of violence and exploitation of women and children through advocacy and lobbying, raising awareness, and by offering social and legal services to vulnerable cases. KAFA’s overall strategic goal is to contribute to the eradication of all sorts of domestic violence and exploitation of women and children. It focuses its strategies and efforts on three major areas: 1) Gender-based violence 2) Child sexual exploitation, and 3) Trafficking in women.  In 2013, KAFA partnered with UNICEF in a project entitled “Protecting children and adolescents from Gender Based Violence” aiming at enhancing protection of vulnerable children and adolescents affected by the Syrian crisis from GBV (early marriage and sexual abuse) through promoting their right to information by improving their access to adequate services and their awareness on how to protect themselves from GBV.   In 2014, KAFA will continue its partnership with UNICEF in the same project through equipping and operating an adolescent friendly space (AFS) in Marj/ West Bekaa aiming at mitigating and addressing child protection violations. This space will provide case management for adolescents’ survivors of GBV and abuse aged between 11 and 18 years old, psychosocial support, educational activities on Sexual and reproductive health (SRH), educational and awareness sessions on life skills, trainings on child rights, photography, drama and dance therapy sessions. Thus, the AFS will need a center supervisor to oversee the implementation of the center’s activities mentioned above.  SCOPE OF WORK: The AFS supervisor will manage the day-to-day activities of Adolescent Friendly space being implemented in Marj/ West Bekaa. Activities will include oversight and coordination of AFS activities. S/He will maintain impartiality and neutrality in dealing with all stakeholders. The center supervisor is expected to deliver the following tasks:  Supervise the overall activities of the center; Manage maintenance, security and activity supplies needs with the relevant resources/service providers; Ensure the implementation of the program’s philosophy into procedures of the center; Ensure the efficient and effective work of case managers, psychotherapists, lawyers, field coordinator and community mobilizers through clear scheduling of activities; Submit regular monitoring and progress reports in English. Work with M&E officer on the development of reporting format; Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships/referral systems with UPEL, shelters, SDCs, local businesses, community organizations, hospitals, police, the government, etc. Updating and maintaining accurate case records for beneficiaries and prepare statistics reports; Ensure the close coordination and sharing of information with the various activities of the program staff including program manager, program officer, psychologists, case managers, outreach workers, psychosocial; Monitoring and evaluating the work of case managers, psychotherapists, lawyers, field coordinator and community mobilizers; Supervise activities to confirm that best practice standards of AFS are being implemented; Attend relevant workshops and trainings as instructed; Attend CPiEWG and SGBV task force meetings with UNICEF and UNHCR. COMPETENCES: • Bachelor Degree in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related degree;• Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English;• Relevant experience in field work on the issues related to GBV and emergencies;• Strong and practiced skills in management, supervision and team work.   PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS: While working on a KAFA project, it is required to sign KAFA’s Child Protection Policy.
