Screener For Malnutrition & Iycf - Bekaa

Screening is an important part of any nutrition program since it helps in the rapid detection and first diagnosis of cases of malnutrition to be treated in later stages. Therefore screeners occupy a primordial role in the screening because they are responsible of collecting the required information for the detection of any malnutrition case. Therefore, the success of the screening and the whole data reliability depends on the skills of every screener and its ability to conduct the related tasks. General responsibilities: Identify the eligible people in the household and manage the measurement. Screen all children under 5 for malnutrition and infant and young child feeding practices in tented settlements, collective shelters/centers and houses as planned. Refer all children identified with malnutrition (SAM and MAM) for treatment Make sure that all information needed is recorded properly on screening and referral forms. Return, if necessary, to the family for completion of information or measurements. Report daily to screening and assessment coordinator on data collected. Attend training on screening of malnutrition (MUAC measurements, edema identification, malnutrition diagnosis, screening forms and referrals) and infant and young child feeding. Follow assigned schedule and days of work. Represent the organization through ethical behavior and making sure that IOCC jackets and IDs are always with screeners. Take responsibility of MUAC tapes as well as IOCC jackets and IDs. Follow security measures. Qualifications: Bachelor Degree preferably in the field Health/ Nutrition/ Medical Lab/ Social sciences Excellent communication skills Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic and English is necessary Strong social, interpersonal and intercultural skills Strong team player Good knowledge of the region and location of most vulnerable areas/localities. Aware of the general humanitarian ethics. Computer literacy Preferable to have a car Preferable to be residing in the area of interest  Experience: 0-1 year of experience with NGO/field work/with beneficiaries.  Contacts/Key Relationships: Screening and assessment coordinator, Health & Nutrition Area Coordinator, Area Monitor.
