This position is for an initial pilot phase of six weeks, in Akkar in Lebanon’s north. Following the experiences gained through that pilot program, IRC and other consortium members intend to deepen and expand project initiatives into other areas. The position reports to the IRC Interim Project Director.
The Community Journalist Trainer will:
Assist in selection of at least 15 novice journalist candidates from Syrian and Lebanese communities in targeted locations in Akkar
Design of hands-on novice journalist training program, building on available materials from Consortium members
Coordinate and deliver hands-on training program. This includes mentored field visits and production support. This may include coordinating some sessional trainers for specific elements.
Provide editorial support for ongoing productions by successful trainees following the training program. This may include coordination between editors, trainees and others for some activities.
Coordinate and liaise closely with relevant staff, including the Volunteer Outreach Coordinator and the Humanitarian Liaison Officer, to ensure community journalist activities respond to and integrate with overall program needs.
Ensure compliance with Monitoring and Evaluation plan to capture lessons and apply them to future expansion
Contribute to strategy for further program development.

Awareness of vulnerability and protection definitions and principles
Skills
Video journalism skills, including camerawork, advanced editing with various linear editing tools, sound, story construction, and online video formats
Training skills
Ability to coordinate small teams
Ability to oversee and manage training programs
Good interpersonal communication and coordination skills
Familiarity with common online tools and social media platforms
