National Protection Officer

Report to: Community services Specialist/Information manager Responsible to support INTERSOS management staff with technical advices and guidance for the design, plan, implementation and development of the protection monitoring, referral, ad hoc assistance and the protection mainstreaming in every project component. Responsibilities/duties: Provide guidance on selected protection concerns for facilitating one-on-one interviews and focus group discussions with refugees, host community members, local stakeholders and service providers in the field. Conduct spot observation in areas where refugees are housed or clustered for inclusion in protection monitoring. Provide technical expertise for the design, organization and evaluation of need assessment and participatory monitoring and services mapping. Provide ongoing training to the protection and community services staff on key protection concepts and methodologies; Provide supervision for the engagement and the capacity building of community volunteers and focal points. Provide guidance for the design, content and approach of Awareness and information campaigns on key protection issues; Provide guidance for the identification, referral or ad hoc assistance to vulnerable cases or people with special needs; Ensure protection mainstreaming in any emergency response implemented during the project, including WASH and Hygiene promotion. Attend and report on Protection coordination meeting and protection relevant workshops at local level and/or central level as assigned. Prepare regular reports detailing needed actions by all actors (INTERSOS, humanitarian, and government) to address protection concerns/gaps; Accomplish any other task not here listed if necessary to the projects achievement. Skills/Competences: 4 years relevant work experience in Protection for local and international NGOs; Good knowledge of Protection principle and guidelines and vulnerabilities identification tools; Proven experience with Child Protection and SGBV practices and procedures in emergency; Proven experience of collaborating with a range of external organisations – CBOs, CSOs, international NGOs, private sector organisations / local government bodies; Proven experience in management, monitoring of the staff and evaluation of their performances Experience of implementing and developing participatory monitoring, reporting & evaluation, program reviews / assessments highly desirable; Strong diplomatic, interpersonal and communications skills; Fluent (both oral and written) English  Full Computer literacy (word, excel, PPT) Availability to frequent field visits across Bekaa Driving license preferable
