1. Driver Responsibilities
To keep the vehicle assigned to him/her clean and road-worthy, daily, weekly checks as specified in the logbook attached with this job description (water, fuel, engine oil, tyre, general condition of the car etc.)
To notify fleet officer on when to refuel the vehicle on regular basis or before the level indicates below half of the tank capacity and record on the logbook.
To correctly fill and record in the vehicle logbook with details of and time start and end, each journey all trips, who and purposes then get signature of the user.
To ensure the safe parking of the vehicle at night, during breaks and when it is not in use, whenever possible in an Oxfam office compound during the night.
To make sure that all basic tools, first aid kits, spare tyres, are in good and working conditions
Make sure that discharge of responsibility forms are kept in the car and used, signed appropriately by non Oxfam GB staff members when the passengers are authorized to travel.
(To be aware of mobile telephone procedure, Driver should stop the car if he/she talks on phone when he/she is driving.) This is a skill and a rule.
To carry valid driving licence and make sure the driving license has to be renewed in time.
Make sure insurance document, Registration & Insurance of the car and other necessary documents are in the car fixed with file folder.
To drive at a speed which is adjusted to the road and weather conditions and abide by the traffic rules and the regulation of Lebanon, and to drive with consideration for the safety of the passengers, other road users, the load, and the technical state of the vehicle.
To immediately report any technical failure or damage and need for maintenance to the line manager.
To help in local purchasing of loading and unloading goods in the vehicles as required.
Show willingness and enthusiasm to be helpful and assistance other staff members in their working duties
To follow the Driver working schedule and perform the duties as instructed by the line manager.
To carryout any other relevant tasks as requested by the line manager
Driver as Oxfam staff members must be polite and respectful at all times – and to represent Oxfam in a good manner.
Only rented vehicles approved Driver are permitted to drive any of the Oxfam rented vehicles. (Approved and tested by fleet officer)
Driver and all passengers must wear a seat belt in front of the vehicle and make sure that passengers wear seat belt.
Only Oxfam employees, partners and staff of other NGOs are permitted to travel in Oxfam GB vehicles if he/she is authorised by Oxfam senior staff to travel.
No Guns, weapons or knives will be carried on Oxfam vehicles at all time.
Traffic laws, signs and all related laws will be adhered to at all times when driving an Oxfam or rented vehicle.
All accidents are to be reported immediately, and a full written report submitted to Logistics within 24 hours to the line manager and logistics manager/coordinator.
Driver stops and report to Oxfam GB office and local traffic police in case of an accident occurred.
Driver must remain calm and polite at all times even after an incident/accident occurred and are responsible for the safety of passengers in the vehicles.
Vehicle theft is to be reported immediately and a full written report to the line manager within 24 hours.
No unauthorised or illegal equipment will be carried in Oxfam vehicles. (If in doubt please contact the line manager before departure)
The use of Oxfam vehicles is subjected to the security guidelines for Lebanon. (See Security Guidelines for Lebanon)
Driver and passengers are not allowed smoking in the car at all times.
When passing animals, pedestrians and villages, Driver will reduce speed to a maximum of 20km/h at all times.
Driver will, at all-time stop at military/police checkpoints inside or outside of cities and towns and will not be impolite to the officials at these checkpoints.
Be flexible with regard to working hours and the possibilities of short-term or long term relocation including overnight trips or weekends.
