Psychosocial Coordinator- Capacity Building

In the frame of the activities of the project “Psychosocial Support to Youth and Families in Syria and Neighboring Countries” under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Beirut, the direct supervision of the Psychosocial Program Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to:   In particular, he/she will:   Support the PM to liaise on a regular basis with the Government of Lebanon, local authorities, and other designated agencies and authorities in order to develop strong and consultative relationships with relevant local, regional and national government officials and departments; Liaise with the Government of Lebanon and academic institutions in order to design a national psychosocial curriculum. Coordinate the activities of the Masters program “Psychosocial Support and Dialogue” as to developing Masters’ syllabus, organizing training modules in close coordination with the Lebanese university and IOM expert network, and ensuring the implementation of the training activities. Liaise with IOM’s national and international expert network. Represent IOM in MHPSS coordination meetings, Child Protection Working Group meetings and subgroups at the MoH, MoE, and others. In addition to supporting the establishment of national and international coordination mechanisms in the mental health of Psychosocial support (MHPSS) domain and representing IOM within those mechanisms. Translate technical documents from English into Arabic and vice-versa Coordinate training sessions for the psychosocial teams, under the supervision of the program manager, and mobilizing national professionals, academics and international psychosocial experts. Support the maintenance of project documentation and information, including the preparation of Arabic and English translations of documents; Support the logistical implementation of the trainings. Ensure that confidentiality and the right to privacy is maintained with regard to confidential information; In accordance with structured reporting requirements and informal reporting needs, prepare clear and concise reports of all the training activities undertaken; Ensure that hardcopy and electronic information systems are maintained, particularly the important notes of all key monitoring, implementation and coordination activities; and Establish a monitoring and evaluation system for the training outcomes Participate in  relevant coordination meetings Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the PM and CoM.

Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or anthropology and relevant field experience. An Academic accreditation or previous work in academia will be considered a plus.
2. Post-graduate studies in Psychosocial support in post emergency settings
3. At least 3 years of previous experiences in psychosocial support activities in international humanitarian interventions
4. Experience working within international development and local NGO sector desirable.
5. Experience working or liaising with government or civil authorities is desirable.
6. Strong organizational skills, a proven ability to establish priorities and plans, and an ability to work independently, and show leadership and initiative within a team environment are necessary.
7. Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.
