Child Protection Street Educator

BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee is an international organization specializing in Emergency and humanitarian programming existing since 1933 and working in more than 40 countries. In response to the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the IRC started a Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) program and a Livelihood program in 2012 with program strategies implemented in various locations in the Northern and Beka’a Governorates. IRC is now complementing their response with a Child Protection (CP) program in Mont Lebanon, Beirut, North and Bekaa.  SCOPE OF WORK:  Brief description of the position’s role within the Project(s): The Child Protection Street Educator is part of a project in Beirut that works with street and working children. The street educator is the first person in contact with the street and working children his responsibilities is to get in touch with the children and their family and tries to connect them to existing services. The street educator will also be responsible of organizing psychosocial activities and basic case management.   Who this position reports to: The Street Educators reports to the Child Protection Street Children Officer.  RESPONSIBILITIES: Technical Quality Conduct a scoping exercise to understand better the context of street and working children Organize psychosocial and non formal education for children Liaise with children and their families to link them to exiting services Identify existing services in the area and develop a mapping to facilitate the referral of street and working children Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs  Coordination & Representation Collaborate closely with the Mt Lebanon Protection team Participate actively to CP team meeting and other meeting if relevant  Program Development Contribute to the development of proposal activities in relation to street and working children  Professional Standards All IRC staff are required to adhere to THE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conduct and the IRC country employment policies.  REQUIREMENTS: Technical diploma or degree in non formal education, animation, social work  or related degree preferred Experience in working with children mandatory Experience in working with street and working children preferable Experience in working for an NGO/ humanitarian organization preferable Experience in working in the field and in tense environments Personal qualities: communicative, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, English speaking is a plus   Travel and other requirements: Staff will be based in Beirut and spend most of the time working in the field in Beirut
