Community Nurse

Scope of responsibilities: Ensure nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients in accordance with doctors’ prescriptions, MSF protocols, respect of universal hygiene standards and context. Function responsibilities Patient care GENERAL Know, apply and make sure universal hygiene standards and security rules are respected for medical premises, routing of patients, routing of linen. Ensure asepsis rules during all nursing cares. Ensure quality of the sterilization process. Compensate (or make sure that someone can compensate in the right way) patient lack of autonomy especially regarding his feeding, his personal hygiene, his movements and his comfort. Organise and carry out care and treatments according to doctor’s prescription and MSF protocols. Ensure that quality and continuity of care are respected. Carry out surveillance of the patient, assessment of his health state evolution, identification of emergency situation and information of the doctor. In case of emergency, carry out first aid care and treatment according to prior written protocol done by the doctor. Carry out when necessary a therapeutic education of the patient (and family) using a patient based approach.   SPECIFIC In accordance with principles of confidentiality: Support psychologist and psychiatrist to organise patients’ appointment and rescheduling and follow-up the attendance of the patients to appointments and prescriptions Deliver psychotropic drugs to patients; prepare order to refill the drug stock in the clinics as needed and manage the above mentioned stock during the presence of the psychiatrist and/or schedule of drug distribution Carry out adherence counselling Carry out therapeutic education session (including medication education) using techniques and tools facilitating expression, motivation and learning Is the case manager of patient on psychotropic medications except psychotic patients and follow-up with defaulter patients î    Organise and carry out care and treatments according to psychiatrist’’s prescription and MSF protocols. Follow-up the MH drug consumption at the clinics level and report it to the pharmacy storekeeper In case of emergency apply the rules defined in the ‘management of violent patients’ protocol Actively participate in training when required     Management Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and ensure a good flow of communication of any relevant information. Actively participate in clinical and medical meetings as well as community mental health events/activities Monitoring, analysis and reporting Participate in the development of the plan of action Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (correctly fill in patient files, forms, registries, statistics, reports) and propose analyse of these statistics. Ensure a relevant transfer of information to the rest of multidisciplinary team. Report immediately to the line manager any problem arising in the service/field, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines. Specific activities linked to the context Specific to mental Health – Saida project: Conduct upon request home visits for patients with mental health conditions to assess medical condition and/or administer treatment Report on violent patients or patients in deterioration conditions and follow-up MSF protocols with these patients Help in support group (medication education) mainly for caregiver of psychotic patients

Work permit to work as a nurse on the Lebanese territories ((اذن مزاولة المهنة;
Registered in the Order of Nurses in Lebanon and knowledge in Mental Health is an asset
