[Describe overview of job missioGENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The junior psychologist will provide supportive services in SDCs (Social Development Centers) and community centers in Beqaa, West Beqaa or Nabitiyeh. S/He will provide support to vulnerable Syrian, Palestinian and Lebanese children and families to increase their emotional and social wellbeing through psychosocial support activities. The junior psychologist will work closely with Area Manager and other field staff (including child protection officer, outreach workers, psychosocial assistants) as well as local partners to ensure that activities are implemented according to schedule, and required quality. The junior psychologist reports directly to the Area Manager and child protection program manager with written and oral activity. The junior psychologist will maintain impartiality and neutrality in dealing with all stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work directly with PSS and Child Friendly Space team members to identify children and families in need of direct PSS support or a protection referral
Provide psychosocial support to vulnerable children and their families through the stages of:
Initial Interview
Holistic assessment
Planning
Referral
Intervention
Monitoring
Termination
Follow-up
Facilitate self-care sessions with Syrian outreach workers, local partners and community actors;
Coordinate with other mental health & psychosocial support, child protection and GBV professionals in Beqaa/ Nabatiyah coordination meetings as directed.
Work with children and their families on psychoeducation, parenting skills, effective communication, relaxation techniques, etc.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review cases, offer recommendations and brainstorm durable solutions for challenging cases.
Submit monitoring and progress reports in English. Work with MC staff on the development of reporting format.
Work closely with MC’s child protection and psychosocial support technical team to review and collaborate on cases
Attend workshops and trainings as directed.
Ensure the close coordination and sharing of information between the various activities of the (APSCP) program staff including area manager, child protection officers, outreach workers, psychosocial assistants, CFS administrator, and/or partner organization team members;
