Monitoring Assistant(Qobayat)

Save the Children has been operating in Lebanon since 1999 and is recognized for its commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration.  Save the Children currently implements programs in Child Protection, Education, CRC, Health and Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihood, Shelter, and Emergency Response throughout Lebanon.   Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa:   ROLE PURPOSE: (this role is dependent on funding) Since the outbreak of violence in Syria in the spring of 2011, the number of Syrians crossing to Lebanon continues to increase. Save the Children is likely to open a new operational area covering two districts in Mount Lebanon, Keserwan and Jbeil. To this end, Save the Children will open a new office in Jbeil. The opening of this new office will represent one of the first tasks of the post holder who will have to build up experience in distributing food parcels and e-vouchers to Syrian refugees in due course liaising with municipalities and local authorities. The post holder will also have to monitor each distribution to assess their running and quality.   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:   Contribute to the registration and verification of beneficiaries by collecting appropriate data Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of activities by collecting appropriate data from selected beneficiaries, using pre-made questionnaires Conduct household interviews and focus group discussions to collect information, as needed Act as a liaison between communities and the Save the Children office; maintain good relationships with beneficiaries and local leaders/authorities; and report any identified issues to the Base Coordinator Act as the focal point for support and monitoring of Cash/vouchers activities in specific municipalities Participate in the distribution of ATM cards (and necessary training) to selected beneficiaries Conduct trainings and sensitization sessions for beneficiaries Collect baseline and post-distribution monitoring data from beneficiaries Write post distribution monitoring report Collect market data from local shops and suppliers Contribute to data entry, as needed Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Required Relevant degree from recognized university Experience in field work and community mobilization Experience in conducting training and sensitization sessions for communities and beneficiaries Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English. French, an asset Proficient in MS usage (especially Excel and Word) Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches Available to travel in country   Desirable Previous NGO experience, preferable working food security & livelihoods Previous household monitoring experience Previous price market monitoring experience APPLICATION PROCESS   Please note that the closing date for applications is: For External applicants on November 16th  .                 The selection committee will review all applications as they are received.
