Assessment Officer (Qobayat)

Save the Children has been operating in Lebanon since 1999 and is recognized for its commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration.  Save the Children currently implements programs in Child Protection, Education, CRC, Health and Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihood, Shelter, and Emergency Response throughout Lebanon.   Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa:   ROLE PURPOSE: (this role is dependent on funding) Since the outbreak of violence in Syria in the spring of 2011, the number of Syrians crossing to Lebanon continues to increase. Save the Children is likely to open a new operational area covering two districts in Mount Lebanon, Keserwan and Jbeil. The Assessment Officer will manage a team of Assessment Assistants whose primary responsibility will be assessing refugees to determine their eligibility for assistance   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:   Managing Assessment Team: -          Be responsible for managing a team of Assessment Assistants and planning their workload according to programme requirements and information from New Arrival Coordinator -          Plan and coordinate Household Assessment visits for Assessment Assistants including field schedule, daily collection quota, transportation etc) -          Coordinate and plan assessment team training and capacity building where required.   Data Collection -          Download all data from tablets at the end of each day (where tablets are in use) -          Collect assessment forms at the end of each day (where paper forms are in use) -          Sort and organise assessment data for transmission to the Food Aid Coordinator in Beirut -          Accompany Assessment Assistants occasionally to ensure assessments are carried out to a high professional standard   Distributions -          Plan distributions of food parcels with the Distribution Officer according to requirements highlighted during assessments.   Accountability -          Undertake random quality checks to a sample of assessments to ensure accuracy -          Maintain a high level of fraud awareness and refer any cases to the Base Coordinator     QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Required Fluency in English essential; A relevant degree from a recognised university Previous experience of carrying out field assessments or research Previous experience managing a team Good contextual knowledge of local issues, refugee situation and social and cultural considerations Proficiency in MS Windows and MS Excel; Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload effectively; High level of integrity and sense of confidentiality; Commitment to SCI’s goals and aims.   Desirable Previous experience in managing data collected through Android device Previous experience working with NGO APPLICATION PROCESS   Please note that the closing date for applications is: For External applicants on November 16th .                 The selection committee will review all applications as they are received.
