Community Health Officer

POSITION GENERAL INFORMATION Ø Starting date: 11/11/2013 Ø Duration: 6 months with possibilities of extension Ø Based in: Beirut (with daily trips to Mount Lebanon)   OVERALL MISSION   General objective   In collaboration with the health team, is responsible for providing quality information and health education in order to ensure access to health care by Syrian refugees with respect of PU-AMI overall principles.   Responsibilities and tasks   Ø Provide quality information and health education to Syrian refugees -            Participate in the identification of potential project beneficiaries in the targeted areas -            Participate in health-related assessments of the beneficiaries’ needs -            Conduct surveys using specific formats -            In collaboration with the Health supervisor, Project Manager and Medical coordinator, participate in the creation and dissemination of IEC (Information, Education, Communication) materials -            Ensure the dissemination of the information on the referral system to the Syrian refugees -            Participate in the organization of health awareness activities in the health facilities and communities -            Ensure the provision of health education to Syrian refugees on the topics related to hygiene, maternal and child health, nutrition and other topics according to their needs -            Ensure field level monitoring of the health education related activities -            Be in regular and direct contact with beneficiaries, collect complaints and suggestions -            Report any difficulty or issue to the Health Supervisor -            Respect the confidentiality of the beneficiaries -            Contribute to work related reports -            Participate in the implementation of the project impact survey -            Accomplish any other tasks assigned by the Health Supervisor   The tasks and responsabilities of the Health Field Officer mentionned above are not thorough and may be subject to evolve depending on the needs PU-AMI may have.   Supervision   Ø Under the direct supervision of: Health Supervisor Ø Direct supervision of: / Ø Under the overall supervision of: Health Project Manager   QUALIFICATIONS   Mandatory requirements   Ø Language Skills: Fluent in English and Arabic, (speaking/reading/writing). Ø Education Degree: University degree in a social or health-related field. Ø Work experience: Proven experience in NGOs. Ø Computer Skills: Excellent knowledge of the MS office software including Word, Excel, Outlook Ø Other requirements -         Valid driving license, -         Good knowledge of Mount Lebanon governorate geography, willing to travel a lot locally -         Excellent communication (especially in public) and diplomacy skills to manage relationship in potentially tense situations -         Literacy in reporting, experience in conducting surveys   Assets   Ø Interest: Work in relief, interest for social issues   Ø Transversal skills -         Strong motivation to help people in need -         Conflict resolution and diplomacy experience -         Understanding of the political situation in the area -         Reliability -         Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work -         Capacity to work in an multidisciplinary and multicultural team -         Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organisation itself -         Ability to analyze and suggest improvements of the activities -         Well organized and hard worker -         Able to manage stress and pressure -         Able to check information, logical -         Neutral
