Child Protection Social Worker

Purpose/objective of the position: The Child Protection Social Worker will be responsible for the work planning and implementation of activities in the Child Friendly Space/ Community Centres. The role includes carrying out recreational, social and awareness activities addressing and responding to the needs of the target population, with special attention to children with specific needs and vulnerabilities in order to promote resilience and the sense of normality in children’s lives. Reports to: Protection officer/Field activities coordinator N. of vacant positions: 16 (4 in each district) Responsibilities/duties: - Under the supervision of the Field Activities Coordinator and the Protection Officer the CP SW is responsible for designing and implementing (weekly and/or monthly plan) activities in the Child Friendly Spaces (CFS)/Community Centres. - Contributes to the Identification, referral and follow up of vulnerable cases of children or of those with special needs in close collaboration with the CP Case Worker. - Be actively involved at all steps of activities implementation. -Ensures a safe and child-friendly atmosphere within the Child Friendly Space/Community Centre, making children feel comfortable, safe, and respected. - Assists in the screening for and monitoring protection needs and gaps in and around the Child Friendly Space/Community Centres. -Assists in the planning, designing and monitoring of relevant trainings. - Be a positive role model and demonstrate conflict-solving behaviour by building trust and promoting tolerance and co-operation among community members through peer - led focus groups discussions and awareness sessions; -Facilitates the participation of all children in forming the basis of activities held at the assigned centre, notably the most vulnerable ones ensuring that proper attention is paid to specific emotional and physical needs. -Liaises with local stakeholders, service providers, local government bodies (primarily CCs) and other community services centres for strengthening joint planning and synergies for community participation around the protection and well-being of all children, including highly vulnerable children -Identifies and engage community volunteers in the planned activities held at the assigned centre and liaise with parents and the community regularly to keep them informed of the development or problems within the assigned centres and surrounding areas. -Maintains daily attendance registers and monthly inventory sheets for each assigned centre; -Ensure that the supplied centre material is daily accounted for and secured. -Perform other relevant duties as requested by the supervisor. Skills/Competences: 1. A minimum Bachelor degree/ diploma in social work or other related field of studies; 2. 1 -2 years of relevant NGO experience or volunteering services on implementing and developing participatory approach highly desirable; 3. Commitment on safeguarding Child’s Rights; 4. Ability to work independently and under pressure; 5. Proactive and highly motivated; 6. Strong organizational, diplomatic and communication skills; 7. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive relations with target communities and project team; 8. Stress-resilient, able to cope with deadlines and complex problems; 9. Good computer literacy;
