D-Rasati Ii: Coaches

Project Description:  Developing Assistance to Schools and Teacher Improvement II (D-RASATI II) is a project that aims at enhancing student achievement in Lebanese public schools by training English teachers, developing extra-curricular activities, providing schools with ICT equipment and training, developing school leadership and building the capacity and tools necessary to support school improvement planning. D-RASATI II is a 2-years project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Position Description: AMIDEAST is responsible for increased stakeholder engagement in the public school through leadership development with parents and community involvement. This involves working on two levels: leadership development for school principals and development of school improvement plans.  Coaches are required to assist a number of school principals during their self-study modules in the leadership development program. They will also assist school teams with their School Improvement Program (SIP) by training, coaching and mentoring them throughout the process. This will take place in the schools located within the coach’s assigned region in Lebanon. Specific Job Description:   AMIDEAST is seeking 28 coaches on a consulting basis who will to be able to perform the following: 1. As part of the Leadership Development component (LDP) : Provide consultation and support to principals during the self-study module of LDP and project implementation through periodic school visits, phone and email contact, and via the LDP e-portal, as appropriate  2. As part of the School Improvement Program and Community Engagement (SIP/CE): Participate in the training of members of school teams Train, mentor and coach members of school teams (approximately 8 per coach) throughout the roll-out phase of SIP/CE activities – including school review, developing a SIP, and implementing the SIP – by conducting training, conducting site visits to schools, maintaining regular communication, and coaching the teams throughout the process Report daily to senior coaches on technical issues, trainings, and key issues, challenges and developments related to the coach’s school teams and school progress throughout project implementation Submit other reports required for project activities and key developments related to project deliverables to Senior Coaches and/or Program Officer as requested. Qualifications:  At least a BA degree in Education, Public Administration, Management, Sociology, Psychology or other relevant field with 10 years of relevant experience preferred; or an MA in Educational Administration and Leadership, or Humanities with at least 3 years of relevant field experience Experience in training and/or facilitation/coaching Knowledge of Lebanese public schools and the public educational system required; Excellent computer skills (MS Office, internet research, etc.) Excellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal, and communication skills Lebanese citizen Ability and willingness to commit for the 18 months anticipated for position responsibilities Willing to work in the different regions of Lebanon Fluency in Arabic required; basic knowledge of English is a must, but fluency is preferred Available to begin consulting work starting January 2014
