  Job Description Information and Communication Assistant Middle East     Background on Médecins du Monde Médecins du Monde (MdM – Doctors of the World) is an international humanitarian organisation providing medical care to the most vulnerable populations affected by war, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty or exclusion. Médecins du Monde also acts beyond medical care and draws on its experience on the ground to bear witness to obstacles to health care and to advocate for change. MdM has been implementing healthcare programmes in the Middle East for decades. MdM is currently present in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Egypt and Yemen. An Information and Communication Assistant is currently needed to provide support to the work of the Middle East Information and Communication Coordinator, covering communication activities for all MdM programmes in the Middle East.   Responsibilities Support in updating MdM Arabic/English website: translate contents (presentation texts, video subtitles…) from English to Arabic, identify content and propose/edit articles, photo diaporamas, videos… Update and monitor social media channels (Facebook, Twitter) Assist with monthly newsletter creation and development Help create/translate/edit brochures, leaflets, reports   Assist with media relations: translate press releases and press kits from English to Arabic, meet and liaise regularly with journalists, accompany journalists on field visits… Update journalists’ database and research Middle-Eastern media outlets Help fulfill requests for information Monitor publications related to MdM work in the Arabic media   Participate in the organisation of various events (conferences, exhibitions, workshops…) Help identify opportunities for partnerships, communication campaigns, etc. Support in collecting testimonies from beneficiaries, doctors and MdM teams   Requirements Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic and English; knowledge of French is considered an asset Good writing and editing skills   University degree or currently enrolled in university studies related to Communication, Media, Journalism and/or International Relations, Development, Political Science and/or other relevant fields   Some knowledge of website management and the use of social media would be considered an asset   Demonstrated interest in NGO and humanitarian work Affinity with MdM mandate and objectives   Attention to detail and an eye for graphic design Ability to work independently; to be proactive and solution oriented Ability to work in an international team   Part time position: 3 days (24hours)/week – 3 months contract starting ASAP
