Job Description
Background:
The Lebanese Council to Resist Violence Against Women (LECORVAW) (www.lebanesewomen.org) has been established for more than ten years and has been combating violence against women through various strategies, from psychosocial and socio-economic services to awareness raising, advocacy and direct lobbying. LECORVAW now operates one center in Beirut and one in Tripoli.
In partnership with Heartland Alliance, Beyond Association is in the process of launching a safe women space that provides holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations affected by the Syrian refugee crisis, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma.
Summary: The Adolescent Animator will be based in Beirut and take the responsibility of assisting the social worker and psycho-therapist in conducting psychosocial activities and workshops targeting adolescent girls affected by the Syrian refugee crisis. The duration of the project is 6 months with possible extension.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in defining psychosocial activities to be implemented according to adolescent and contribute to the development of a safe women space
Prepare and implement recreational activities for the target population
Identify within the activities the adolescents in need of further assistance.
Create a positive and trustful atmosphere while interacting with adolescents encouraging them to express their needs and ensuring their feeling of safety;
Report any observed problem of a child to the social worker for necessary support or referral to other supportive network
Identify materials required for activities
Actively attend supportive trainings and experience sharing meetings
Accomplish individual and collective assignments given by her/his supervisors
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience working with adolescents
Social work experience and/or experience in humanitarian work preferably in emergencies
Strong experience in providing recreational activities to adolescents (drama, play, games, circus, sport, storytelling, drawing/painting, artistic activities, music, dancing)
Ability to work with refugees in underprivileged settings
Excellent creativity skills
Excellent communication skills especially with adolescents
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent Knowledge of written and spoken Arabic
Good knowledge of written and spoken English
Dynamic personality and ability to work under pressure
