Assistant Wash Program Officer

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Program will ensure day-to-day field management, supervision and coordination of all the activities taking place during the lifetime of the Syrian WASH Program SWaP) in South Lebanon and Mt. Lebanon Governorates. The project will contribute to increasing the resilience of Syrian refugees who fled to the Districts of Nabatiyeh, Marjeyoun, Hasbaya, Jezzine, Saida and Chouf. Specifically, the project will provide access to improved water services for vulnerable Syrian Refugees and host communities. Particular focus is on women headed households.  The Assistant Program Officer will maintain impartiality and neutrality in dealing with all stakeholders. He/she will be responsible for the day to day Project implementation that focus on increasing access to safe water and sanitation services/facilities to Syrian refugees and host communities. This will also include community mobilization, Hygiene promotion, promotion of Syrian and Lebanese participation in project activities, strengthening the role of women in decision making, participation in coordination activities meetings and liaising with relevant government departments in the field.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Ensure implementation of the WASH activities per the proposal and as defined by his/her supervisor Plan the activities according to the development of the project Carry out community mobilization and hygiene promotion session among the refugees and host communities. Validate the relevance of the intervention area, the selection of beneficiaries Assist in defining the approach with local stakeholders. Conduct technical and social assessment of beneficiaries. Regular monitor the WASH activities and WASH Volunteers at field level; Collect water sample at the field level and regular monitoring of water quality. Regular follow up and conduct HP activities at field level; Conduct training for WASH Committee and beneficiaries. Assist to Project officer for preparing training budget and training module Support in maintaining and update project level database of refugee profiles and sector-based needs; Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
