Logistics Assistant

Save the Children has been operating in Lebanon since 1999 and is recognized for its commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration.  Save the Children currently implements programs in Child Protection, Education, CRC, Health and Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihood, Shelter, and Emergency Response throughout Lebanon.   Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa:   ROLE PURPOSE:   Support the Logistics and Distribution Officer in Fleet and Movements Management, Asset Management, Procurement, Warehousing and other duties as identified.   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:   1. FLEET AND MOVEMENTS Centralise transport requests Prepare the planning and coordination with programmes. Disseminate travel plans to all relevant staff and displays the information on a vehicle movement board Under the direction of the Logistics and Distribution Officer, ensure logbook information is collected and fuel consumption and running cost is calculated - all abnormalities to be reported to the Logistics & Procurement Officer Manage contracts and records of all vehicles on the base, whether hired or owned by SCI Coordinate the service and maintenance of all vehicles Ensure that vehicles are equipped with adequate items in line with base security plan         2. ASSET MANAGEMENT Under the direction of the      Logistics and Distribution Officer, monitor and track allocation and usage      of assets amongst programmes and departments. Oversee maintenance of assets      (and organise repairs and replacement if necessary). Update registration and documentation      of assets and ensure all assets are labelled.   3. PURCHASING Under the direction of the Logistics & Distribution Officer, collect quotes and organise the receipt of goods and payment of suppliers for items needed by the programmes and other departments Adhere to Save the Children procurement procedures Prepare for the delivery of the items, and draw up GRN and SCNs   4. WAREHOUSE & STOCK MANAGEMENT                                                                          Maintain cleanliness of warehouse Ensure proper identification and counting of incoming and outgoing stock Oversee and assist with loading, unloading and stacking Assist in equipment and stock inventory when needed Ensure safe preparation for dispatch or loading of cargo onto transportation vehicles                                            5. MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES The Logistics Assistant will assist with various duties including, but not limited to : General support the logistics team Locate and hire casual workers (porters/ stevedores) if necessary Assist at distributions to beneficiaries   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Essential Relevant experience in logistics Direct experience of one or more of the following: fleet management, asset management, procurement or warehousing Proven strong administrative skills Fast learner Computer literate, with good knowledge of excel Written and spoken English and Arabic Good communication and      interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Level headed, able to take swift      decisions, able to remain calm and achieve results under heavy workload. A proactive person with      initiative, drive and honesty with high level of integrity, who can      perform and meet expectations with minimal supervision;   Desirable Desirable:      basic knowledge of mechanics and general issues or best practice for effective      fleet maintenance. Essential
• Relevant experience in logistics
• Direct experience of one or more of the following: fleet management, asset management, procurement or warehousing
• Proven strong administrative skills
• Fast learner
• Computer literate, with good knowledge of excel
• Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
• Level headed, able to take swift decisions, able to remain calm and achieve results under heavy workload.
