Psychologist (Bekaa)

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: The Psychologist will provide supportive services in SDCs (Social Development Centers) and community centers in Beqaa. S/He will provide support to vulnerable Syrian, Palestinian and Lebanese children and families to increase their emotional and social wellbeing through psychosocial support  and therapeutic activities. The psychologist will work closely with Area Manager and other field staff (including field officer, case managers, outreach workers, psychosocial assistants) as well as local partners to ensure that activities are implemented according to schedule, and required quality. The psychologist reports directly to the Area Manager and program manager with written and oral activity. The psychologist will maintain impartiality and neutrality in dealing with all stakeholders.   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Along with Mercy Corps’ Area Manager and Field Officer, identify local partners, Syrian outreach workers, and community actors conduct monitoring and reporting of child protection and gender based violence concerns; Provide psychological support to vulnerable children and their families through the stages of: Initial Interview Clinical assessment Planning Therapeutic intervention Monitoring Termination Follow-up Conduct self-care sessions with Syrian outreach workers, local partners and community actors; Coordinate with other mental health & psychosocial support professionals in Beqaa/ Nabatiyah coordination meetings as directed. Work with children and their families on psychoeducation, parenting skills, effective communication, relaxation techniques, etc. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review cases, offer recommendations and brainstorm durable solutions for challenging cases. Submit monitoring and progress reports in English. Work with MC staff on the development of reporting format. Work closely with MC’s child protection and psychosocial support technical team to review and collaborate on cases Attend the workshops and trainings as directed. Work with and coach appointed Syrian Refugee Focal Points to support project activity implementation; Ensure the close coordination and sharing of information between the various activities of the (APSCP) program staff including area manager, case managers, field officers, outreach workers, psychosocial assistants; Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission; Other duties as assigned;
