Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in 1971.
Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters.
MSF in Lebanon currently has 3 projects mainly on primary health care and mental health, in Saida, Tripoli and the Bekaa valley.
-Scope of responsibility:
Ensure and organise medical activities for patients and/or a population attending the Primary health care in MSF clinic in AArsal in accordance to MSF protocols and to universal hygiene standards taking into consideration quality and continuity of care;
Perform consultations in the out patient department and as well the antenatal care follow up for pregnant women in accordance to MSF protocols and guidelines;
-Function responsibilities include:
Medical activities:
Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnosis and prevention (helped by clinical examination, laboratory results and exams available)
If necessary prescribe relevant treatment according to MSF guidelines and protocols
Ensure a medical follow-up of quality and if necessary (and possible) refer to other health facilities
Apply hygiene standards in all medical activities
Keep informed the patient and his family about any development
Collaborate with nurses and team supervisor in indicating the needs in medical equipment and drugs
II- Pharmacy and medical equipment management:
Has an obligation to contribute and monitor the clinic pharmacy: availability of the relevant drugs and medical material
Has an obligation to contribute and monitor the quality of the desinfection and sterilization process of the material and medical equipment
Is in charge of new needs identification, in terms of drugs and medical equipments, in line with pathologies met in his/her medical practice
III- Organisation and team management:
Supervise, motivate and train a multidisciplinary health team and more particularly staff carrying out medical activities (formal and informal training)
According to MSF protocols and guidelines, and in order to ensure continuity of care when the he/she is not on the spot, could be asked to define treatment protocols or treatment adaptation to be applied by nurses
IV- Monitoring, analysis and reporting:
Participate in the development of the plan of action
Monitor the medical activities, analyse them in the context, with a public health approach and make propositions of possible evolution if necessary
Report immediately to the technical referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines.

-Experience required: 3 to 5 years experience in governmental or private hospital as a family medicine doctor is required;
Previous experience with nongovernmental organizations as an MD is a strong asset.
-Required qualification:
• Bachelor degree in general medicine (Diploma);
• Licensed to practice medicine in Lebanon (certified from ministry of health);
• Member of Lebanese order of physicians
