Role and Responsibilities
Working as an important member of a diverse team to support the project's objectives to support the implementation of site improvements of Informal Settlements. Primary responsibilities will include beneficiary selection, community liaison and communication.
Project Overview
The conflict in Syria has erupted into a full-scale civil war endangering lives in almost every community in the country. Desperate families, caught in the crossfire, are leaving everything behind and fleeing into neighbouring countries. Lebanon, one of these countries, has received a large influx of refugees from Syria. To assist the arriving Syrian refugees, Medair’s team in Lebanon is implementing an emergency shelter project with site improvements and mapping activities in the Bekaa Valley.

Key Activity Areas
Site and beneficiary selection
Assist in planning construction activities
Support logistics activities
Assist in the implementation of site planning
Complete beneficiary recipient documentation
Communication
Build relationships and community acceptance
Liaise with local communities on site
Liaise with local authorities as appropriate
Lead community development councils
Assist in translation as needed.
Communicate implementation problems or issues to Project Manager.
Liaise with Mapping Team and Distribution team
Reporting
Participate in the generation of the final reporting of the project via post implementation analysis.
Qualifications
Academic studies in a related field.
Languages
Strong working knowledge of Arabic and English (spoken and written)
Experience / Competencies
Studies in social work, development or similar field beneficial
Some work experience in construction
Good working knowledge of geography and culture of the Bekaa Valley region
NGO or community engagement experience
Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
Passionate about serving the poor, self-motivated and a desire to further knowledge
Aptitude for community mobilization and engagement
Team-player with good interpersonal skills
Willing to support others and share workloads
Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels
Creative, open-minded, flexible and a self-leaner
Ability to adapt communication strategies for different situations
Able to take initiative in data collection and planning
