Main Objective of the position
To support the strategic development and implementation of War Child’s emergency response program.
Main Duties
1) Security
Support the implementation of the security plan and emergency plan in Lebanon and develop a security strategy.
Act as security focal point for all staff
Ensure daily updates about the security situation.
Conduct briefings of all staff local as well as international
Follow with the staff when they are in the field about any security updates or incidents.
Gather security and safety related information and disseminate this between the staff
Represent WCH in all international NGOs security networks in Beirut.
Ensure that all safety rules and standards are respected and applied in the WCH office.
Advise Country Director on changes in SOPs, routines and other procedures related to security
2) Capacity building
Work with the partners in Lebanon to build security, contingency plan, and security procedures.
Organizing security trainings for the partners and staff.
3) Fleet management:
Coordinate all daily movements required for the staff.
Arranging and implementing detailed daily work plans for drivers and vehicles
Acknowledging and implementing priority/duty tasking’s
Have 24/7 availability to coordinate any last minute emergency travel of the staff
Coordinating and running the drivers.
Applying management & safety measures and procedures
Ensure all drivers and staff are successfully and accurately filling out the mileage and fuel log books;
Coordinate the hiring and training of new drivers;
Ensure regular liaison with PM team to ensure safe and secure personnel movements
Ensure that all cars are maintained and ready to be used in a daily basis.
7. Required skills and competencies
Proficiency in Arabic; Fluent in English.
Ability to work in different environments
Previous experience in security and safety.
Demonstrated ability to work under difficult conditions and a high degree of pressure
Political and cultural knowledge/awareness, and experience of working in settings where insecurity has been on the agenda
Holder of a valid driver’s license
Ability and willingness to work under difficult circumstances and with other partners.
Team oriented, with ability to work efficiently independently.
Flexible and responsive to challenges, with willingness to take on additional tasks as needed.
Proficient in MS Office - word processing, spread sheets, etc.

Reports to: Country Director
Location: Beirut, Lebanon
Start date: 1 September 2013
Duration of contract: 6 months with possibility of extension
Starting salary: competitive.
Time commitment: flexible and available

War Child will provide monthly transportation allowance (8,000 LL per day that the staff member is at the office), phone allowance, and health insurance.
