Protection Assistant (Detention) - G4 - (Unops Contract) - Prt003

1. Visit detention facilities. 2. Conduct basic interviews with asylum seekers and refugees in detention. 3. Counsel asylum-seekers and refugees in detention on UNHCR’s procedures, assessments and decisions. 4. Ensure that asylum-seekers and refugees understand the procedures that they will go through and the reasons behind the decisions. 5. Listens well and are able to provide sound counselling to asylum-seekers and refugees. 6. Register and determine the status of refugees in detention according to the international standards. 7. Liaise closely with prison, immigration and law-enforcement officials. 8. Ensure fair treatment of asylum-seekers and refugees in detention. 9. Keep track of detained refugees and asylum-seekers status records by regularly updating databases and templates. 10. Provide input to protection reports and other reports as required. 11. Any other function requested by the supervisor. 12. As a member of the protection team and UNHCR Branch Office Beirut, contributing to enhance the protection space for persons of concern to UNHCR in Lebanon.
