Psycho-Social Consultant

  The consultant will work within the frame of Handicap International project in Lebanon entitled: “Urgent Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for Children in Palestinian Camps in Lebanon, including Child Refugees from Syria” The project will support the provision of quality mental health rehabilitation and psychosocial services to at least 395 Children with mental health problems (CwMHP) or at risk of mental health problems. The project will be targeting children living in the Palestinian camps and surroundings including Palestinians refugee from Syria who fled to the camps in Lebanon due to the crisis. Mental health rehabilitation services will be provided to CwMHP including children refugee from Syria, living in North Lebanon and Tyre area.  These services will be provided by multidisciplinary teams and will include assessments, individual therapy, co-therapy, group therapy, home-based therapy, and follow up. Also, parents of children will be trained and guided in order to be fully and directly involved in the rehabilitation plans of their children and be part of the multidisciplinary team providing the services. At the community level, the project will aim to decrease the risk of mental health problems amongst the Palestinian children displaced from Syria. To achieve this, HI will be responsible for conducting an assessment regarding the mental health problems of Palestinian children refugees from Syria. Based on the results of this assessment, local partners will carry out awareness and prevention sessions for Palestinian refugees from Syria. These sessions will empower them to prevent the increase of mental health problems among their children and to know when and how to seek for further help (self referral). Specific psycho-social animation services will also be implemented by trained animators to children refugees from Syria living in North and Tyre area camps.    Following will be the main responsibilities requested from the consultant: Implement formal training and support to partners’ animators to implement psycho-social activities. Design adequate monitoring tools to facilitate the follow up of psycho-social activities by the project team. Technical contribution to the content of awareness materials that will be produced to support the awareness activities targeting parents.   Implement formal training and support to partners’ animators to implement psycho-social activities:  Objective: to enable at least 6 partners’ animators to plan, implement and evaluate professional psycho-social activities with groups of children Refugees from Syria Living in South and North Palestinian camps.  Expected results: The trained animators acquired new approaches and techniques to apply professional psycho-social activities.   Tasks: 1.1 participate in the need assessment to assess the needs of the animators in the field of psycho-social work. 1.2 design and implement training to animators based on the results of the needs assessed. 1.3  Support the animators to design psycho-social activities based on the children needs. 1.4Follow up and support the animators’ implementation for the psycho-social activities. Time to achieve the tasks: 16 working day   2. Design adequate monitoring tools to facilitate the follow up of psycho-social activities by the project team  Objective: to support the project team to monitor and follow up the progress of the psycho-social activities. Expected results: project team is more able to follow up the implementation of the psycho-social activities.  Main task: 2.1  create the adequate tools to follow up the implementation of the psycho-social activities.  Tme to achieve the task: 1 working day   3. Technical contribution to the content of awareness materials that will be produced to support the awareness activities targeting parents.   Objective: produce quality awareness materials to be used throughout the project duration. Expected result: the awareness materials are produced in the first quarter of the project duration.  Main tasks: 3.1 give advice on the content of the awareness materials. Time to achieve the task: 2 working day
