Save the Children is seeking qualified candidates to fulfill the following positions, for its Lebanon Country Office, in the following locations Beirut, Tripoli, Akkar and Bekaa:
ROLE PURPOSE: Supported by the Health and Nutrition Coordinator, the Officer will carry out the emergency adolescent health (AH) project activities according to the health programme strategy. She/he links closely with the other staff and workers in the field and works directly with beneficiaries in the communities. Other duties include participation in technical assessments, collection of health and age-disaggregated data, implementation, monitoring, documentation and reporting of the project as well as ongoing analysis on adolescent health situation of the refugee population, support and advice on health issues and services contributing to overall health and nutrition program, its appropriateness and quality. As the emergency health program is integrated within a multi-sectoral response along with Food Security, Shelter, Education and Child Protection, the Adolescent Health Officer will link closely with other respective sectors to ensure maximum possible integration of the project activities.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Work towards effective, timely and quality implementation of the adolescent health programme
Participate in designing implementation plan and carrying out activities according to the implementation plan and program budget
Work directly in the field with adolescents, families and other stakeholders of the project location he/ she is allocated to, and provide information and advise beneficiaries on existing health services.
Organize and support community workers and peer volunteers in carrying out awareness sessions for adolescents and in communities.
Regularly visit project sites as requested and liaise on a daily basis with health facility providers, community health workers, partners, communities and supervisor to guarantee the smooth operation of the programme.
Conduct trainings on adolescent reproductive health and maternal health topics
Liaise on a daily basis with partners, communities, Save the Children field manager and supervisor to guarantee the smooth operation of the programme.
Collect data, document and report according to monitoring plan.
Ensure monitoring plan is in place and applied, and build capacity of the staff carrying out the work.
Continuous information collection on the health needs and changes in health services available for adolescent refugees and vulnerable Lebanese adolescents.
Produce timely reports for internal use on the ongoing activities of the project.
Participate in adolescent health assessments/mapping as required
In case of emergencies such as disease outbreaks, be part of the response team involved e.g appropriate vaccination programmes, case management and control of spread.
Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Degree in health, education, social work or other relevant degree
Minimum 6 months experience of working in the field of health, preferably in public health, reproductive health or maternal and child care
Experience in working with adolescents and young people, knowledge of peer education techniques is
beneficial
Experience in conducting trainings and facilitating workshops
Familiar with building partnerships and community mobilization
Experience in monitoring, documentation and report writing
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Computer skills (Word, Excel)
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required
Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment
This position is based in Bekaa with frequent travel to Akkar as needed. Available to live and travel to these
locations is essential
