Special Educator

Supporting regular schools to set up and implement inclusive educational practices - He / she participates in the design of the training program for regular schools (annual training cycle). This training program aims at giving teachers of regular schools simple and practical tools to help them deal with their students with special needs, and thus to support schools to set up and use inclusive educational practices. - He / she is in charge of preparing and delivering the pedagogical component of the trainings - He / she is making follow-up visits in the schools participating in the trainings in order to support the focal points for children with special needs in their effectively implementing the proposed adaptations.   Diagnosis and care - He / she works in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team of ‘Trait d’Union’, the school and the families for the definition and implementation of an Individual Educational Project (IEP) for the children referred to the center - He / she is in charge of coordinating with the schools the follow-up of children diagnosed by Trait d’Union’s multidisciplinary team through: Work with teachers and focal point for special needs students to develop exact procedures for the implementation and monitoring of IEPs, Regular follow-up of children and teachers Classroom observations   Participation to public awareness-raising activities - he/she participates in developing tools to raise public awareness on learning disabilities (brochures, website, and posters) - he/she contributes to designing and implementing awareness-raising campaigns targeting different audiences (children, families, educators, doctors, government, etc..) through existing structures (public schools, clinics, community centers, municipalities, etc.). - he/she participates with the rest of Trait d’Union’s team to career fairs for youth in order to promote jobs related to special education and reeducation
