Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters. I- Function responsibilities: - Medical activities and patient care: Obstetrical activities Responsible of for all ANC, PNC and FP activities (carry out pre-conceptual care, antenatal care, post-partum and, neonatal care) including specific care for HIV pregnant women and women suffering from FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) Prevention of fistula, as well as early management are integrated into obstetrical activities   STI (Sexually transmitted infection) Provide effective diagnosis and treatment for patients with STIs (and their partners) Diagnosing, monitoring and examining women during pregnancy following MSF ANC guidelines; Developing, assessing and evaluating individual programmes of care; Providing full antenatal care, including screening tests in the hospital, community and the home; Identifying high risk pregnancies and making referrals to doctors and other medical specialists; Arranging and providing parenting and health education for the woman, her partner and family members; Encouraging participation of family members in the birth to support the mother and enhance both mother/baby bonding and family relationships; Providing counselling and advice before and after screening; Raising awareness and educating beneficiairies about safe use of contraceptive methods; Offering support and advice following events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death; Giving support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breast feeding, bathing and making up feeds; Providing advice and guidance on a safe and timely transfer home; Providing appropriate medical and psychological care to victims of sexual violence, according to MSF guidelines and protocols.   - Pharmacy and medical equipment management: Ensure efficient management of the ward pharmacy and medical equipment: drug and material orders, stock follow-up, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their return to the central pharmacy Ensure the correct disinfection and sterilization of material, linen and premises according to MSF protocols - Organisation and team management: Participate in the organisation of the ward in collaboration with other midwives and the ward supervisor Ensure all medical procedures are carried out correctly Ensure hygiene standards are respected Work in collaboration with other wards and departments (eg operating theatre, paediatric ward, laboratory) Assist in the supervision, motivation and training of the maternity team Collaborate with social worker and community health workers/nurse in the community to encourage them to make early referral of complicated obstetric cases to the local health centre Has a role in sexual education for adolescent and youth of the community. - Monitoring, analysis and reporting: Participate in the development of the plan of action Participate actively in the recording, monitoring and reporting of medical activities (eg registers, partograms, patient files, reports and the compilation and analysis of statistics). Ensure relevant transfer of information to the next duty team (especially the identification of at risk cases) Report immediately to the technical referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines.
