Media Officer/esip Part Time

Position: Media Officer Job description: Responsible for media relations - both reactive and project-led.  Required to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver LPHU media objectives.  Expected to work flexibly in helping to communicate the organisations vision through business initiatives - including a regular programme of media events to promote exhibitions and events. Proven experience of working with national, regional and online media and a sound knowledge of their audiences. Require excellent written skills and can grasp sometimes complex information to convert it into simple and accessible language. Develop an understanding of how LPHU works as an organization. Efficient and timely - recognising the urgency and need for a quick response. In addition, possess excellent communication skills with an ability to deal with all media, Government departments, other stakeholders and staff at all levels in an appropriate manner.     Responsibilities:   • Act as Press Officer responding to media enquiries on a day-to-day basis and brief experts/spokespeople on media handling for interviews. • Generate positive publicity for LPHU and the exhibitions & events it holds by initiating and developing contacts in national, regional and specialist press, broadcast and online media. • Ensure that information related to project activities added to The LPHU website in a timely and accurate manner and prepare text for loading using a web content management system. (Arabic and English) • Write and distribute news releases and develop the Press Office media contacts database. (Arabic and English) • Identifying suitable media outlets, writing and distributing material, building relationships with journalists and responding to their related queries. • Take responsibility for producing  LPHU publications mainly in Arabic and in English when required (description below): [Diversity at workplace guide: 9 issues to be produced The guide targets employers and PWD seeking work. It provides many instructions for employers on how to deal with persons with disability at workplace and how to include the diversity and inclusion criteria into their work. It also aims at providing some guidance and advices for PWD who are searching for a job. News about the projects activities. “How to become an inclusive company” booklet: The guide targets private and public sector companies and ministries, and includes steps and information to adopt inclusion. "Disability friendly terms and the image of the person with disability in media" guide: to be prepared and produced together with the ministry of media Project brochure:. The target group is public sector, companies, PWD, municipalities, NGOs, local community. The brochure is used to promote the project and its different activities at the regional, national and local level, and to recruit new people. Arab e-newsletter: Published electronically and available via websites and distribution lists, the e-newsletter will be aimed at PWD across the region, local and regional NGOs, and national and regional authorities and agencies. Aimed at awareness raising and how-to improve inclusion.. Prepare and produce a short TV and radio spot on the inclusion of persons with disability at work, their rights as stated in the law 220 and UNCRPD and the economic benefits of employing persons with disability.] • Carry out media evaluation of media coverage on a project basis and report results to the project coordinator and general manager.   Skills   • Proven experience of media communications, ideally in a similar role. • Broad knowledge of all media and a strong news sense. • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
