Social Worker/ West Bekaa

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters. I- Scope of responsibilities: Promotes improvements with regard to the social/financial conditions faced by the MSF beneficiaries and their families; promotes problem solving in human relationships and the empowerment of the beneficiaries to enhance their well being. The social worker must ensure confidentiality in all the performed activities.  II- Function responsibilities: A- Network: Maintain and participate in network of partner organisations that can provide answers to social problems but also care (institutions, NGOs…etc.) to the needs of the beneficiaries. B- Social activities: During home visits and in the structures in which MSF is working, the social worker is required to conduct the following activities: Identification of social, psychosocial, socio-economic needs of the beneficiaries and related family accessing the MSF services with the help of the community worker in the location or individually Provides information and advises the beneficiaries on existing social services responding to the needs detected and/or expressed by the beneficiaires and/or their families. Provides a prelimiary social assessment and the necessary care (actively listening, emphaty…etc.) to beneficiaries accessing the MSF services. Refer beneficiaires to the relevant and appropriate professionals or institutions (inside or outside MSF). Provide basic counselling-support when required. Is a case manager when appropriate. Follows-up defaulters. Involves the patient and the family in the development and implementation of individual action plans. C- Monitoring, reporting: Provides the MTL & fieldco with a monthly report of the activities executed Participates in the development of the plan of action. Keeps statistics updated about his/her activities. Reports immediately to the MTL & fieldco any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines. III- Specific activities linked to context: Performs outreach visits and detection of cases requiring mental health support and refer appropriately.   Organises and conduct relaxation sessions and other activities related to patient care and family support. Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team ensuring fluid communication of relevant information in order to make sure that a proper management of the case is preserved.  Actively participates in clinical and medical meetings as well as community mental health events/activities.  Establishes a proper referral system with other organizations for services unavailable at the MSF structures and coordinates and follows up the referral with such partners.
