Syrian Crisis in Lebanon: North
OVERALL OBJECTIVES
The Danish Refugee Council is fast expanding its response to the Syrian crisis and is looking to identify suitable Outreach Workers who are interested in working in the North (Tripoli or Akkar) who will be requested to respond quickly to vacancies as they become available.
BACKGROUND
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world. DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006. DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves.
DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Outreach Worker - North, to support its activities under the project "Emergency response for displaced Syrians in Lebanon".
Responsibilities:
Main tasks:
1. Registration:
Conduct home visits to vulnerable families, assess their displacement situation and fill out registration form
Identify protection issues such as:
Health situation
Psycho-social situation
Disability
Child protection issues
SGBV
Elderly at risk
Victims of torture
Legal protection concerns
Fill out a referral form with protection issues identified and ensure follow up on internal or external referral mechanism
2. Distribution:
Contribute in preparing FI and NFI distribution activities (action plan, logistical tasks…)
Implement distribution activities
Conduct post-distribution reporting tasks
3. Protection monitoring
Conduct regular home visits and focus groups in order to:
Monitor protection risks and needs, especially for children, women, disabled and elderly
Identify individuals with specific needs and refer them to the appropriate facilities
Disseminate and share information with Persons of Concern on their rights and access to services
Provide basic counseling and psychosocial support through individual and group follow up
Report verbally as often as needed to the team coordinator on the work progress, challenges and other related issues
Ensure proper documentation of data collected (hard and soft copies)
Prepare written monitoring and evaluation reports
Fulfill any other duties requested and/or needed by the mobile team coordinator
Experience and Qualifications:
University degree, preferably related to Social Work (protection)
Field monitoring / outreach work experience
Experience in community mobilization and networking
NGO experience, preferably in emergency work
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to facilitate group work and lead meetings
Good communication and organizational skills
Commitment to the values, vision and mission of DRC
Good computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel…)
Self-motivation and good team spirit
Ability to speak, read and write Arabic (native Arabic speaker) and English
Starting date: TBD
Conditions: DRC offers a competitive local salary and benefits package. The position will require full presence in the North, from Monday till Friday, in addition to weekends when needed. Candidates from the North are strongly encouraged to apply for the position
