In the framework of the project “Let’s all go to school initiative “funded by UNICEF, which aims to empower schools and parents to enable them to establish a peaceful, motivating and child-friendly learning environment in which children are to guaranteed of their right to play and to access quality protective education, Mada is seeking a counselor to organize awareness & capacity building sessions for parents. The sessions should be tailored to strengthen parenting skills, focusing on non-violent pedagogical methods.
Objective of awareness and capacity building sessions
Building the capacities of parents on non-violent pedagogical methods, with knowledge of child Rights and the importance of parental involvement and follow-up their children in schools and in the learning process. Acquiring constructive communication techniques to facilitate cooperation with the teaching staff at the school
Expected results
Parents are able to identify non-violent pedagogical methods
Parents have the capacity to practice the non-violent alternative pedagogical methods
Parents practice constructive communication techniques with school staff and identify the importance of play and extracurricular activities on child’s psychology
Content of sessions
Strengthening parenting skills through providing them with non-violent alternative - pedagogical methods
Increasing parents empathy towards their children through role play
Awareness session on child rights and the importance of play and extracurricular activities on child’s psychology, development and academic improvement
The importance of a common pedagogical approach between home and school and ways to improve relation and cooperation between the parent-teacher-administration
Counselling services to parents, students and teachers, treating problems that are creating a negative atmosphere at home and school
