Education Officer

As a member of the Education in Emergencies team, the Education Officer will oversee the implementation of the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) for affected communities under the supervision of the Education Adviser. The Education Officer will work towards ensuring the programme is of a high technical quality, monitoring processes are in place, that timely reporting occurs, and that the programme is continually assessed and solutions quickly put in place for a change of context. The responsibilities of the Education Officer will be to: Programme Implementation Support Be the lead focal point for the ALP component of the Danida programme in Tripoli, and provide technical support as needed to other regions. With the Education in Emergencies team, finalize operational work plans, set clear targets and activity plans per school for the ALP. These targets and activity plans should be communicated clearly to the Education Team as well as to the teachers and parents of the ALP. Liaise on a daily basis with communities, schools, Save the Children Field manager and supervisor to guarantee the smooth operation of the programme. Conduct awareness sessions with families and other stakeholders of the project location he/ she is allocated to. Ensure regular monitoring, data collection and reporting of activities is done. Lead on outreach activities, and assist in the implementation and facilitation of trainings and workshops. Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the Syrian refugee children and their families in the community, with specific attention paid to the project targeted children. Monitoring and Evaluation Lead and report on monitoring and evaluating project activities for ALP. Produce timely reports for internal use on the ongoing activities of the ALP and schools. Ensure that data is collected on a weekly and monthly basis. Regularly visit project sites to ensure that implementing partners and teachers are appropriately supported. Child Protection Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection at all times, including respect for confidentiality and child centred approach, acts in the best interests of the child. Education Degree Details
• At least 3 years experience in education, preferably in an NGO environment or educational setting
• Bachelors degree in education, development or another social science
• An understanding of formal and non-formal education, as well as child protection mechanisms
• Understanding of government institutions, particularly the public school and social welfare systems
• Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to plan strategically
• A demonstrated understanding of national development issues in particular in relation to children
• Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic, and either English or French
• Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work with incoming teams in the event of major emergencies
