Market Facilitator

PURPOSE OF POSITION:  To contribute to WV Lebanon’s ultimate goal to improve child well-being by pursuing the economic development ministry goal “To empower communities to increase & stabilize their income so they are better able to provide for their children”. To coordinate the different activities of the economic development sector in Marjayoun focusing on “Agriculture Value Chain”. And to ensure that the planned activities are being implemented on time and that the farmers’ groups are engaged in decision making and analysis.   MAJOR TASKS:  I- Project Implementation Support in conducting the baseline assessment for the project Develop a database that includes private sector, governmental institutions, NGOs, producers, community leaders, institutional actors related to selected value chain Plan and arrange interviews with all actors in order to understand the role of each one of them in the value chain. Analyze and identify gaps based on the interviews’ results In coordination with the Area Development Programme team and the farmers (parents of RCs who have an income from selling agricultural products), work on the formation of Producer Groups (PGs). Support PGs undertake participatory value chain and end-market research through interviews with Value Chain actors and stakeholders. Analyze and summarize information with PGs (including technical gaps in production techniques) gained through Value Chain Analysis Organize capacity building activities for PGs with technical consultants of each value chain selected Based on Value Chain research, support producer groups to plan events (such as exposure visits) and meetings between producers, buyers and others to encourage business relationships. II- Project Reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports (financial and operational) on the proceedings of the project(s). Keep and file records and correspondences related to the project Coordinate with the Communications  department at the National Office for story coverage at the project level Monitor expenditures and budgets and track activity expenses; ensure that appropriate action is taken in a timely fashion  III- Assist in identifying new projects’ opportunities in order to increase funding and impact Communicate potential project proposal ideas with the ADP manager and the ED specialist to further the impact of the existing project.  EDUCATION / SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:             Education Bachelor &/or Masters Degree in Business, Marketing, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Commerce, and/or International Development.  Knowledge and Skills Strong computer literacy skills including MS Office Suite; e-mail and internet Practical business knowledge with an emphasis on marketing Knowledge of community development theories, approaches &  techniques Training and education skills and knowledge Financial management skills Developed interpersonal skills Ability to work both autonomously and in a team A good command of the English & Arabic Languages Good oral & written communication skills  Experience Field experience in project management including monitoring and evaluation At least two years experience in a position of similar nature Practitioner in small business development services, small business financing, market analysis, market research. Practitioner in community economic development, community empowerment, working with community based organizations.
