It & Telecommunications Officer

Purpose: The Zonal Information Systems Unit has the responsibility, in close collaboration with the Information Systems Department inGeneva, to manage and coordinate the development, installation and maintenance and support of Information and Communication Technologies for the Federation delegations and offices in the zone (including PNS under Service Agreements). The IT & Telecommunications Senior Officer contributes to this team through handling support requests from staff and delegations, and assisting in disaster response. Keys tasks and responsibilities: Provide a Service Desk function as contact for delegations in the region on IT and telecoms incidents and service requests. Resolve or escalate the calls in the most efficient manner. Liaise with Information Systems Department inGenevaon matters of customer incident management. Enter requests in appropriate systems and utilize and improve knowledge base. Provide support and incident / service request resolution for the zone office (this may include installation, maintenance and repair telecommunications and computer equipment). Participate in training and development of expertise and resources for the region. Advocate and where possible implement Federation procedures and standards in IT and telecoms. Assist with auditing delegations on compliance with policies and standards. Assist in developing regional perspectives on procedures and standards for input to the standardisation process of the Federation. Provide technical support and collaboration with the IT & Telecom resources and programs in disaster management. Undertake any other relevant tasks/duties as may be reasonably requested by the zone IT and Telecoms co-ordinator, including ensure timely and accurate reporting upon request and managing Federation programs and assets as agreed in adherence with Federation standards and procedures. Actively work towards the achievement of the Secretariat’s goals. Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross /Red Crescent principles. Perform any other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
