Internship (Refugee Status Determination)

Assist in the collection and analysis of relevant and up to date on Country of Origin Information (COI)  and ensure effective sharing and recording with the RSD team members; Assist in providing counselling and guidance to asylum-seekers and refugees on Refugee Status Determination procedures, rights and obligations; Assist more experienced staff  to conduct RSD interviews and prepare RSD assessments in accordance with UNHCR guidelines and procedural standards; Act as interpreter and translator between Arabic and English when needed; Any other responsibilities/functions deemed necessary or as delegated by the Head of the office / RSD Supervisor in order to meet the level of the services in the organization. ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.  Define the educational background, the relevant job experience and the language(s) that are essential to perform the work of the position.  -Good knowledge of Refugee law/International Criminal Law and Human Rights doctrine; -Legal knowledge and the ability to apply legal principles; -Excellent research, analysis and English drafting skills. -Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel); -Good analytical skills and good oral and written communication skills; -Strong interpersonal skills; -Cultural and gender awareness; -Fluency in Arabic and English.
