Public Health Expert

Project background information Première Urgence - Aide Médicale Internationale (French NGO) is implementing  shelter rehabilitation projects in the Palestinian gatherings of Hai el Cinema, Boustan Abou Jamil (Ein el Helweh) and Borj el Barajneh, and infrastructure rehabilitation projects in Hai el Sohon, Boustan Abou Jamil and Fadel Wakeem (Ein el Helweh). These projects are funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO) Accompanying the rehabilitation projects; PU-AMI is planning to implement an Awareness Campaign that will aim at: -          Raising people’s awareness on water-related hygiene issues. -          Informing the local population about the project and its objectives, and encourage the population’s involvement in the networks maintenance -          Developing an ownership feeling from the population towards the project.  Wished qualifications Experience in the social/humanitarian field Ability to capitalise on past experience and information available within the organisation in order to become autonomous quickly; Ability to take initiative to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work; Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organisation itself; Well organized; Basic computer skills (word, excel); Hard worker; Able to manage stress and pressure; Able to check information, logical; Neutral;       Ø  Responsibilities: The Public Health Expert will be based in Saida Office and will be daily visiting the gatherings.   He / She will:   Study the need of the targeted gatherings and propose essential ideas (on hygiene and water sanitation awareness) that can be implemented within the Focus / public sessions, activities and events, and /or for the campaign itself. Design, prepare and implement hygiene and water sanitation awareness sessions and deliver it to the local communities, through focus sessions (home stations), Public sessions and Activities. Prepare and design brochures, hand-outs, flyers and/or PowerPoint as tools for the awareness campaigns Participate in designing the content of a documentary film on hygiene awareness. Report (In writing) on all awareness sessions delivered during the period of contract and all other activities that might be conducted under the title of hygiene and water sanitation awareness, (including the final report of the hygiene and water sanitation awareness campaign). Participate in the pre/post evaluation assessment and final reports of the awareness campaigns. Manage referral of special health and hygiene hardship cases identified during the implementation of the awareness campaign Prepare a comprehensive Activity Fom following PU-AMI format that will be used to capitalize all information regarding awareness campaigns in the Palestinian Gatherings.   The Public Health Expert must be able to work individually and within a team. He/ She should be flexible and ready to adapt to possible modifications of the program described above, in order to contribute to the success of PU-AMI’s projects in Lebanon He/She also takes part in the usual tasks of PU-AMI mission, and he/she is ready to get involved in the other aspects of the project if necessary.
