Communication And Advocacy - Consultant

Diakonia Seeks to hire a Communication and Advocacy consultant to be based in our Beirut office. The Communications & Advocacy Officer will be responsible of delivering communication and advocacy objectives for an EC funded project ‘Promoting Human Rights Policy and Practice in Lebanese Women’s Prisons’ to be implemented in collaboration with three partner organizations.  Main Duties 1. Lead responsible to maintain and develop our online outreach (50%) Add and improve the project website regarding content, navigation, look and feel (text, images, film, links, fora etc.) In coordination with partners improve project online visibility; develop social media tools for online visibility and for creating communities of people Coordinate and support partners in on developing the content to be published on the website Liaise with the website technical developer to improve the system and solve problems 2. Create communication products (40%) Liaise with partners to organize the development of major communication products like publications, brochures or films. Coordinate editing, design and printing of those products with partners Liaise with external designers, writers, film makers and printing companies, when needed. 3. Develop the systems of the communications department (10%) Maintain and assist partners in maintaining the photo, film, publication and press databases related to the project. Develop guidance for partners regarding publications, visual identity 4. Develop Advocacy action plan Responsible for mapping out key allies and opponents for the campaign that will be developed for the project with partners Develop a campaign action plan. To undertake other delegated responsibilities when needed Qualifications and Experience University degree in journalism or information/ communications 2- 3 years advocacy/communication work experience. Working experience in journalism or information/communications, including strategic communications planning, or related field Knowledge of software and website issues (html, basic photo, film and pdf editing) Fluency in English and Arabic Excellent written and spoken language skills are essential Demonstrated writing skills for different audiences and products Good experience in online outreach
