Education Programme Coordinator

The Education Program Coordinator is expected to represent the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Lebanon in a responsible manner and always to act in accordance with the NRC Code of Conduct. The Education PC shall work under the guidance of the Education Program Manager to fulfil the objectives of the NRC as stated in the Country Strategy and the Project proposals. The Education PC is responsible for following up the planning and implementation of all the NRC education projects in Lebanon. Major Areas of Responsibility 1.In close collaboration with the education PM, expand, develop, coordinate and manage NRC’s education projects in Lebanon 2.Responsible for pedagogical planning, development, implementation and follow-up of the education project as agreed in the overall plan 3.Ensure that activities are in line with approved plans and budgets 4.Ensure that the projects implemented are realized in a timely manner and as per the objectives and planned activities 5.In collaboration with the education PM, train local staff necessary to implement the project objectives and on project management 6.Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in the project based on observations and discussions with the local staff and the PM 7.Make recommendations and participate in design of NRC education strategy & action plans 8.Design and implement education assessments 9.Assess needs for capacity building among education staff, partners, teaching staff (beneficiaries) and discuss actions with PM 10.Design training programs based on needs assessments 11.Coordinate meetings with different stakeholders (school authorities, students, parents and communities representatives, NGOs, UNRWA representatives and any other relevant stakeholders) 12.Closely work with the Education PM to coordinate activities and ensure coherence of action plans in the field 13.Design community sensitization action plans in collaboration with the education team 14.Provide facilitation, conceptual, organizational and logistical support to NRC staff engaged in trainings related to education/protection/development issues 15.Ensure an integrated programming approach with other NRC Lebanon Programs 16.Participate in defining a monitoring and evaluation strategy 17.In coordination with the M&E, monitor and follow-up on quality of services provided by NRC in the field. Make recommendations for improvement 18.Compile and up-date information in the field on internal and external factors impacting education and the project results, and prepare monthly reports 19.Prepare reports as required by donors 20.Participate in proposal writing 21.Represent NRC in meetings 22.Any other task relevant to the position and agreed upon with the Education PM. Experience Required •At least 5 years of field experience in education projects •Experience in project management •Experience in team management •Experience in developing proposals and budgets Additional Qualities a Successful Candidate Should Possess •Experience from working in Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings •Experience in strategic thinking and planning skills, be able to set priorities, prepare manageable work plans and to evaluate progress. •Proven communication, interpersonal, representation, negotiation and leadership skills •Team spirit •Strong communication and organizational skills. •Strong documentation, research and report writing skills. •Fluency in English Achievement indicators To be defined with the Education PM – will include, among others: •Objectives have been reached according to established plans •Plans have been developed and timely followed •Proposals for future funding of activities have been developed •Reports have been produced at regular intervals •Good relationships with UNRWA have been maintained and enhanced •A good working environment has been established
