Job description
1) PURPOSE
The Media director (MD) is responsible for the implementation and continual development of Adyan Communication strategy for efficient external and internal communication in support of the foundation’s mission and its programs. He/She also manages the Adyan media audio-visual (documentaries, clips…) and printed productions (brochures...). The MD is overall responsible for ensuring an effective relation with the Press and Media community and high quality of Adyan publications, including the administration of the website and social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Bolg) Annual Reports, Quarterly Newsletter, statements and press releases.
Reporting to: CEO
Collaborating with: The department directors and programs and Networks’ coordinators
Line managing: Occasional consultants, free lance journalists and interns
2) BACKGROUND
Adyan is a Lebanese independent NGO with local and international programs, aiming to promote and foster intercultural understanding, inclusive citizenship and interfaith solidarity. The organization is a sustainable growth process full of potential, and benefits from the high competence of its professional 10 member team. Adyan believes that its growth and the achievement of its mission are inseparable from the progress and capacity building of its personnel. Thus a specific attention is given to the positive work environment and staff continuing training.
3) MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Communication strategy and development
• Maintains an overview of internal and external information needs, develops/refines Adyan communication strategy and enhances communication
• Supports Adyan through developing and making use of new communication strategies and technology
• Contributes to or undertakes program/advocacy oriented campaigns (Builds online campaign media materials and manages mass e-mailing campaigns or other kind of communication campaign (sms…)
• Supports Adyan’s team to improve their use of these communication tools and interact with external users (visitors) allowing them to feel the Adyan communication web pages and communication tools as friendly and comfortable spaces
2. Website and social media administration
• Edits and updates the www.adyanvillage.net website
• Edits and manages, as main administrator, Adyan’s social media profiles (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, blogs)
• Provides editorial support to colleagues (blog…)
• Builds and develops strong social media networks and attract web visitors
• Develops SEO practices and Meta tag optimization
• Handles the relation with Adyan’s web service providers (hosting, design, development…)
• Presents on a regular basis an evaluation report of the webpages and their impact (visitors, members…) and proposes a development strategy

3. Production and dissemination of Media and communication materials
• Manages the production and the dissemination of short movies or documentaries that effectively communicate Adyan messages
• Manages the production and dissemination of Adyan communication tools and visibility materials (Brochures, banners…)
• Edits and disseminates Adyan's Quarterly Newsletter and similar reports
• Collaborates in producing and disseminating the Adyan yearly report
• Proactively seeks new resources where Adyan and its work should feature
• Manages the translation of key materials in languages relevant to the main countries of operation
4. Relation with the Press
1. Enhances Adyan’s media approach
2. Manages and constantly update the Media contact list
3. Maintains a personal and positive relation with the Media representative and ensures their accurate understanding and approach of Adyan mission and work
4. Supports/writes press releases and promotional adverts in consultation with CEO and department directors and program coordinators
5. Ensures the good and appropriate media coverage of Adyan events and prepares the Press kit for each event
6. Keeps records and documentation from all the press coverage
7. Ensures the regular presence of Adyan in Media
8. Develops partnership with Media
9. Prepares and manages Press conferences
5. Internal communication and integration
1. Develops, implements and maintains a “house style” in all Adyan communications
2. Coordinates the Adyan global schedule (all activities on one shared calendar)
3. Supports and guides in the preparation of presentations about Adyan and its programs
4. Assists the CEO in the redaction of the Annual report
5. Maintains an updated database of Adyan contacts
6. Develops and maintains an Adyan photo library and activities video filming for use across a range of communications forms
7. Provides support for Adyan program and Network coordinators in communication and campaigning
4) REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
University degree in a related field (Communication, Journalism, Computer Science, Marketing, Media, Education...)
Experience
2 years of experience
Languages
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic; French is a plus.
Skills
A strong capacity for analysis, communication and information management
Strong motivation and familiarity with social media; experience in website editing is a plus (CMS)
Excellent communication and writing skills in English and Arabic
Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure with good organizational skills
Commitment to creating positive environmental, social and cultural change
Excellent interpersonal skills, team work and a good listener
Ability to take initiatives and be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Movie maker and similar tools for social media development)
Personal belief in and support of Adyan’s mission and core values

5) JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Location
Beirut
Working Hours
Full time job from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday till Friday
Starting from June 15, 2012
Salary
High range of salary; TBD based on qualifications and experience
Contract
Full time with personnel status (including NSS and transport fees)
