Project Coordinator-Beirut Area

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and nonprofit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 30 countries around the world.DRC has been operating in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian and Iraqi refugees, as well as Lebanese communities affected by the war in 2006.  DRC is committed to basic humanitarian principles; including impartiality and neutrality, and offers the highest standards of accountability to the people it serves. DRC is inviting local candidates to apply for the position of Project Coordinator-Beirut area to support its activities under the project "Empowerment of Women at Risk in Lebanon", funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).   The purpose of this 15 months project is to empower women at risk and/or victims of SGBV by prevention and a protection-oriented response based on livelihood support. It will help promoting economic and personal self-reliance of 300 vulnerable women and raise awareness of duty-bearers about Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and human trafficking. The project’s outputs are as follows: Advocacy on violence against women towards survivors’ communities. Assistance to 200 women at risk through a holistic package of support services delivered in a newly established centre in Saida. Coordination and capacity building of local NGOs delivering services to domestic migrant workers. The Beirut Project Coordinator will assist local NGOs delivering services to migrant domestic migrant workers in coordination and capacity building. He/She will also assist in the coordination and delivery of sub-grants to partners and in the implementation of a widespread awareness campaign on SGBV. Key responsibilities: Activities Ensure timely and quality implementation of the project activities. Coordinate with partner NGOs the preparation of the prevention campaign. Mobilize relevant resources for the implementation of the prevention campaign. Lead the implementation of the joint stakeholder analysis of capacities and needs of partner NGOs. Facilitate the creation of a coordination body for NGOs working with Migrant Domestic Workers. Review reports and follow-up on narrative and partner financial reports. Coordinate the creation of a common data management system for partner NGOs helping to improve the referral mechanism of partners. Monitor, supervise and follow-up on activities of the projects which were sub- granted to partner NGOs.     Organize and chair meetings with partner NGOs, as needed. Monitor and Follow up on the work of partner NGOs, providing coaching and support, as needed. Reporting Report back verbally as often as needed to the Project Manager on the progress of the work. Prepare monthly report on the progress of the work Assist in the preparation of donor and other reports. Coordination Coordinate and work closely with wider DRC team project. Attend meetings with all local and international NGOs working in with Migrant Domestic workers in the area. Other Other tasks as requested by the Project Manager or Programme Manager. Competencies:Knowledge and understanding of concepts and approaches relevant to protection, Migrant Domestic workers, women at risk and SGVB. Professionalism Commitment to the values, vision and mission of DRC Comply fully with DRC’s staff Code of Conduct and other humanitarian ethics and accountability commitments of DRC. Communication skills-    Proven ability to speak and write English and Arabic Teamwork Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues on team agendas, provide support to team members and act in accordance with the final group decision. Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and work relations. Planning & Organization-    Ability to prioritize competing demands and to plan, coordinate and monitor work/project flow, while respecting deadlines. Qualifications & Experience: University degree in social sciences, Masters preferre Experience in work with Migrant Domestic Workers is a plus Minimum 4 years of work experience in any related psychosocial fields (social services, public health, service delivery, and protection) or any other related field. NGO experience Excellent interpersonal skills Starting date:August 2012 Conditions:DRC offers a competitive local salary and benefits package.
