The Life Skills Coordinator (LSC) will work under DRC's "Life Skills Development for Young Palestinians in Saida" project. The project’s purpose is To support the personal development of a minimum of 270 young Palestinians in the Ein el Helweh Camp and strengthen the capacity of five local NGOs.
The LSC will promote the concept of life skills development among the local community and will develop, supervise and monitor specific life skills training and activities by local NGO partners for at-risk students and school dropouts.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess needs, develop and implement a curriculum and associated activities for life skills education coordinating and networking with local NGO partners and other relevant service providers
As necessary, provide or arrange training for local partner NGO life skills facilitators
Monitor and provide feedback on the implementation of the life skills education component, the quality of partners’ life skills training and associated activities
Ensure that beneficiaries with special needs (e.g., learning disabilities or psychological counseling) are effectively referred and coordinated with DRC’s social work ex[ert for appropriate follow up
Promote life skills development among relevant community stakeholders, including young Palestinians, their parents, civil society and local authorities
Coordinate and work closely with the wider DRC team
Assist in the preparation of donor and other reports
Comply fully with DRC’s staff Code of Conduct and other humanitarian ethics and accountability commitments of DRC
Other tasks, as requested by the Project Manager or Country Director
QualificationsDRC is looking for a mature and dynamic person to join the project. This person must have an appropriate university degree and relevant practical experience. The person must also be willing and able to work on a regular basis in Ein El Helweh refugee camp, Saida.
Requirements:
BA in social animation or other related field (e.g., social work, specialized education)
Experience in non-formal education and education, including life skills
Experience and demonstrated skills in dealing with youth
Experience in dealing with parents and special needs family
Native spoken and written Arabic
Very good spoken and written English
