Program Director

International Relief and Development (IRD) is a non-profit organization specializing in international development and humanitarian assistance.  IRD’s mission is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. IRD is seeking a Program Director candidate for a civil society capacity building program.  The Program Director will provide overall management and general direction of the entire program. S/he will serve as a representative to the program, liaising with NGOs, advocacy groups and women’s associations/groups. This position will be responsible for the program achieving target results, and will identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments. This position will be based in Lebanon. Essential job functions: Achievement of project goals and objectives. Management of program staff. Program management, program implementation and program reporting.  Budget management in accordance with donor policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with IRD and donor operational and financial policies and procedures and reporting requirements Provide expert advice and exercise overall responsibility for execution and project management including oversight and direction of program components. Manage partner relationships. Desired Skills & Experience: Master’s Degree in journalism, political science, international studies, communication, or related field; A minimum of 5 years’ experience of senior management experience, including the management of professional staff and project implementation; Knowledge in the areas of civil society, gender issues, democracy and governance, advocacy, and/or ICT; Demonstrated experience liaising with USAID and local partners; Prior experience managing complex, multi-faceted projects; Prior experience working with community based organizations in advocacy and civil society; Proficiency in program management and utilizing analytical approaches to achieve results; Demonstrated leadership in building the capacity of local staff and partners; High degree of flexibility;
