FUNDED FILM CONTEST
DRAMA FOR CHANGE FILM CONTEST
Search for Common Ground (Search), in partnership with ABAAD are taking applications to fund a short film production as part of their joint-project to promote women’s participation in politics. The aim of the project is to utilize drama in strengthening the capacity of young television professionals to produce gender-sensitive-programs that increases the belief of the audience about the importance and capacity of women’s role in politics and leadership.
THE CONTEST:
To highlight the experiences of Lebanese women in terms of political participation and the challenges they face (financial, social, cultural…) in a 3-5 minutes short film that tackles the obstacles through a creative scenario.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Studied or currently studying Film, Cinema, Production, Audio-Visuals, Communication Arts, Multimedia, Radio & TV, or similar discourse
- Above 18
- Resides in Lebanon and able to attend coordination meetings with Search and ABAAD
- Available for a 6-days workshop
- Arabic reading and writing skills (scripts) are mandatory
- Proof of previous work is a plus.
PROCESS:
- Short listed candidates will have to attend a 6-days workshop on Gender and Women’s Political Participation and a workshop on The Use of Drama for Social Change, which will enable them to develop and shape their scripts.
- After completion of the workshop, the candidates will be given a period of one week to develop a script. Candidates will be allowed to work individually or in groups of 2.
- The script should be submitted by no later than December 5th,2017
- The scripts will be reviewed by a committee to select the top ones.
- The selected scripts, will be awarded a fund to execute the production
- The winning film will be aired on a local TV channel.
