The criminology department at AJEM is seeking for an experienced researcher, preferably with experience in criminology. The department is an interdisciplinary closely working with the psychology, legal, social, and medical departments. Within the scope of its work and under an ongoing project, a study will be conducted in a form of a criminological assessment describing the reality of criminology within the population of the detained Syrians using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
TASKS
1. Conduct literature review analysis of existing qualitative and quantitative information regarding the topic;
2. Define a clear methodology as well as analytical tools in order to have scientific outcomes; Conducting qualitative semi-structured questionnaire for focus groups; concerning perceptions and attitudes of criminology within the Syrian population with municipalities;
3. Conduct a quantitative demographic investigation;
4. Conduct qualitative individual questionnaires with incarcerated people on the history of criminology;
5. Use data entry programs facilitating data cleaning process;
6. Prepare a full report of the conducted research drawing on the findings of the research and ensure that clear recommendations are described;
• At least five years of relevant professional experience on human rights;
• Advanced knowledge of qualitative research methods, and data analysis techniques;
• At least five years’ experience in conducting research on similar, related topics, including research for use in policy development
• Excellent analytical skills;
