Driver for Mobile Medical Unit (Full time)

humedica has been operating in Lebanon since 2012, and is currently funded by the German Foreign Office. humedica is running two Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), serving approximately 30 informal tented settlements (ITS) in the Bekaa valley, providing free primary health care and medication for Syrian refugees. In addition, humedica is supporting Primary Health Care Centers (PCHs) (under the administration of Ministry of Public Health) for both Lebanese and Syrian patients.

TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

Your main responsibilities will be:

1. Transport humedica staff and volunteers
2. Ensure that the vehicle is clean and being representative (interior as well as exterior) at all times
3. Ensure that the vehicle is fully functional and secure at all times, particularly during visits of informal tented settlements (ITS)
4. Refill the car each time the tank is half-full
5. Drive carefully at all times and ensure safety of the passengers, other road users, and the assigned vehicle
6. Pay the traffic violation if he exceeds the speed limit or breaks any other traffic law
7. Ensure that non-humedica staff travelling in humedica vehicles will sign a disclaimer (waiver) form
8. Familiarity with security guidelines
9. Assist international staff and volunteers during their stay, including driving and transport of expats to and from Beirut (with extra pay when outside working hours as according to the employment agreement)
10. Translating for coordinator, if necessary
11. Assist in the office logistics
12. Assist in other duties in the office as assigned by the immediate supervisor when not undertaking transport facilitation. For this reason this job description is not exhaustive, the job holder may have additional tasks

Contract: Employee – Fixed term contract

Duration and working hours as per entrepreneurial contract

This Zahle based position contributes to the mission of the organization by facilitating the humedica projects in Lebanon, particularly the MMU in Zahle and Central Bekaa.

Essential Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. Working experience 2 to 3 years
2. Education degree: High School
3. Lebanese driving license for at least 2 years (category 3 is an asset)
4. Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
5. Basic mechanical skills
6. Minimum of 2 years of driving experience in short and long distance routes
7. Basic safety skills
8. English and Arabic mandatory, knowledge of French is a plus

 Desired Qualifications:

1. Prior international organizational experience is preferred
2. Should be quick in understanding, keen on taking instructions, and able to work with minimum supervision
3. Training in security protocols highly desirable
4. NGO working experience desirable
5. Reliability, flexibility
6. Ability to cope with difficult security context
7. To be able to work as part of a team and participate in all activities of the MMU
8. To be able and willing to work in a multi-cultural environment

• Operate the Mobile Medical Unit in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
• Drive the Mobile Medical Unit in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, including minor maintenance duties such as changing the oil, charging the batteries on daily biases.
• Support the mobile medical team by setting the space for the delivery of activities.
• Ensure the safety of the patient during the their presence near the MMU waiting for their turn, eliminating or mitigating the dangers of the outdoor space that will be used
• Clean the vehicle on daily biases (especially internally)
• Maintain schedules and maintain order on the Mobile Medical Unit
• Support the mobile team by purchasing and providing the needed materials.
• To comply with the humedica Code of Conduct
• Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the humedica Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a hand over if another uses the vehicle
• Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country in order to avoid car accidents.
• Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle.
• Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
• Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.
• Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints, and roadblocks. Ensuring all passengers know and respect the security rules
