Co-facilitator Volunteer

Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a Non-Governmental Organization of international solidarity based in France. Founded in 1991, SIF is an apolitical neutral organization whose objective is to provide immediate and long-term support to vulnerable population affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts and other types of crisis.

SIF has been present in Lebanon since 2012 distributing assistance to the Syrian refugee populations affected by the conflict in Lebanon. This program aims at contributing to the improvement of the well-being of the children and their families.

SCOPE OF WORK: The volunteer co-facilitator assists in conducting recreational and psychosocial activities inside his/ her community for children in secured and safe spaces and provides support in other child protection activities planned by the organization.

Who this position reports to: Assigned focal point by the organization

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Program

 

  • Assist, contribute in developing and implementing age- appropriate recreational and psychosocial activities for children in their community
  • Assist in providing psychosocial support activities for caregivers and  life skill sessions with adolescents as appropriate and required
  • Assist in delivering specific skills building activities with adolescents including but not limited to life skills, community projects etc.
  • Ensure that all beneficiaries participate in the activities that are non-discriminatory as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate.
  • Assist in conducting awareness session with the community on the scope of the program being implemented  and intended impact.
  • Assist in conducting outreach and information sessions in the community
  • Provide feedback to the organization’s focal point  on the types of activities to be developed for children and caregivers in the community
  • Ensure that parents/caregivers get frequent feedback about their child’s participation during the sessions.
  • Actively participate in trainings delivered by the organization
  • Identify children at risk of harm or being harmed and refer them as per the procedure to the organization’s focal point 
  • Ensure that the children feel safe, comfortable and respected
  • Ensure that the activities are done in a clean and hazard free location
  • Ensure that the material appropriately used and later stored in a safe way at the end of the day
  • Respect and abide to the organization’s internal code of conduct and child protection policy
  • Ensure that all children and caregivers are aware of any accountability/ complaint mechanisms
  • Collect attendance of participants in the activities, and fill in weekly reports as required

Other

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop SIF’s programs
  • Attend all meetings requested by managers upon needs.

  • All volunteers are required to adhere to SIF’s standards for professional conduct and its employment policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Secondary education is a plus
  • Previous  work experience with children  
  • Good in written and spoken Arabic
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure, enjoys working in the field, values diversity, encourages openness and transparency, honest, good communications skills

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of child protection concepts and activities.
