Medical Coordinator (M/F)h

TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

 

As Medical Coordinator, you work under the direct supervision of the Deputy GenCo and with the technical supervision of the Regional Medical Advisor, based in Amman. At mission level, you work closely with the Mental Health Coordinator, and you also cooperate with the MEAL Coordinator, as well as with the support services. 

 

Essential duties

 

 

  1. Medical program management and partner support

 

  • Contribute to the development of MdM strategy with the coordination team (needs assessment, implementation adjustment of medical activities);
  • Ensure the implementation (achievement of the outcomes), the quality and the consistence of the medical component of the program with partners and MdM coordination team;
  • Develop, update and validate medical standards, protocols and good practices;
  • Monitor the public health context and challenges, and suggest any corrective measures to adapt the program if necessary (outbreaks, new needs arising, …)
  • Ensure the monitoring and evaluation of the medical program: analyze and report on monthly basis the medical data of the program and propose adjustment whenever it is required;
  • In cooperation with the MEAL coordinator, develop a lesson-learning and evaluation plan, develop tools and methodologies for modeling good practices and models to promote;
  • Co-operate with the administration and logistics teams to ensure timely and quality supply of the programs needs in terms of HR and logistics, as well as finance.

 

  1. Management of medical stock and logistic chain for medical procurement

 

  • Ensure that medical activities have needed equipment, material and drugs to function;
  • Support the medical procurement process in term of need assessment and quality check;
  • Support the supervision of the pharmacy qualitative and storage conditions (consumptions, orders and inventory) in cooperation with logistics team;
  • Coordinate with the Administrative Coordinator for budgeting related to medical procurement.

 

  1. Capacity Building

 

  • Develop and ensure the proper implementation of a global medical training plan for all staff, including the partners staff whenever it is possible;
  • In cooperation with other coordinators, develop and ensure the implementation of a capacity-building plan of the PHCCs, followed and assessed with quality indicators:
  • Ensure the technical supervision of all medical staff of the partners, i.e the supported PHCCs, and identify the needs for training/support;
  • Ensure the trainings are properly delivered by the team members, and contribute to it if necessary;
  • Provide the team with planning and organization tools.

 

  1.   Representation 

 

  • Represents MDM in coordination meetings, and actively participates to medical groups;
  • Participate to the different medical meetings with national and international stakeholders, playing a key role in any relevant medical coordination mechanisms;  
  • Lead on liaison with the MoPH authorities where MdM is presently working to ensure an excellent working relationship;
  • Participate in the identification of MdM implementation and/or strategic partners;
  • Proactively lead on external coordination with other health actors, UN agencies at the relevant level; actively build relations and establish information sharing channels to ensure MDM is well placed within the health response, regular contact with other Health actors is required to share information on identified gaps and to share best practices for the local context;
  • Support field teams to coordinate on the field with all stakeholders, and ensure that information passes both up and down the chain of command in a timely manner.

 

  1. Team management
  • Ensure the direct supervision of the Health supervisor, the pharmacist, the community outreach officer and the future GBV advisor, and organize their capacity development;
  • Support the health supervisor in the management of the medical team (health officers)
  • Participate to the reflection on the evolution of the medical team ensuring the best quality implementation of the program; 
  • Identify the needs of medical staff for the programme, draft job profiles and organise their recruitment;
  • Organise regular meetings with the medical and MH teams. 
  • Maintain good inter-team communications, engender good team dynamics, and take suitable action when problems occur

 

  1. Reporting
  • Support the Deputy GenCo and the General Coordinator in the monthly reporting;  
  • Ensure the production of summaries and analysis of the data collected and compiled when required;
  • Participate actively in the writing of donor’s reports and proposals

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Professional skills and experience required:

  • Medical doctor
  • Significant experience in public health
  • Knowledge and skills on Emergency Unit, SRH, mental health or psychosocial support
  • Minimum 2 years in humanitarian response, especially in the field
  • Experience in project coordination, including management of a medical team
  • Experience in working with local authorities and partners
  • Experience in capacity building is an asset
